"C'mon, let's go say hi", Amy said, pulling you inside.

You had been inside their house a few times at this point. You were over here for a few of Amy's birthdays, as well as her graduation party, but it was still a little surreal now, since you two were now more than just friends.

Amy went over to meet her mom and the two of them hugged one another.

"Hello to you as well, Cody! It's so good to finally see you again!" her mom said, directing her attention towards you.

"Likewise, Mrs. Pearson", you responded, trying to maintain some formality.

"How many times have I told you over the years? Call me Allison!" she responded, waving her hand.

At that moment, Amy's dad walked into the room. He worked hard for the majority of his life, and sported a head full of gray hair as a result of his work-related stress. Despite that, he managed to be cheerful and upbeat, much like the rest of the family.

"How's my girl doing?" he said to Amy, then he turned to you, saying "Hello Mr. Stevens, I understand you'll be staying with us until the storm passes?"

"Yes sir, I will", you said, accepting his open hand with a firm handshake. "I apologize for such late notice, but I didn't have many options."

"You're always welcome here", he said. "But yes, in the future, some notice would be nice".

"Oh, let me show you to your room so you can put your bags down!" Mrs. Pe-, sorry, Allison interjected.

She led you down the hallway into their guest room, which they had cleaned immaculately. How on Earth did they manage to do that in such a short amount of time? Amy had only let them know last night!

"Here you are! Make yourself at home while you're staying here!" she said.

"Thank you very much, Mrs. Pearson", you said, setting your bags down.

"Allison", she corrected. "Have you and Amy had lunch yet?"

"No, but we ate breakfast rather late", you answered.

"Well you just grab a snack from the pantry if you get hungry", she said. Then she walked out of the doorway, leaving you alone. You knew just what to do with that alone time.
