Ella stood in a triumphant stance as she announced, "I brought you here to help me finally figure out Mr. Skelly's backstory!"

You both stared blankly at her for a few moments, letting what she said sink in. Bea summed it up best after the silence, as you cannot speak. "What?"

Ella pointed at Bea, "You, are one of the smartest people I know, and you know more about this... world's backstory than I do! Therefore, you can help me at last figure out what the cool and hidden story behind Mr. Skelly is!" She looked at you as she stalled saying world again, why did they keep doing that? it annoyed you to no end.

Bea waved her hands to slow Ella down, "Woah woah woah, I just know more because my older brother was a pro, I didn't like study or anything. Plus, where would I even start?"

Ella spun to look at the one solid wall of your cave, "You can start right here at the-" She paused as she saw the wall near entirely buried in sand. She slowly turned to you, "Did you not have time to clean it yet? You usually had it more cleaned off than this."

You stared blankly at her before walking up to the wall. While staring directly into her eyes, you blindly swiped at the sand, of course not moving any of it despite you brushing at it. When done with this gesture, you did a similar movement to when she had announced you, jazz hands towards the point, still as sandy as ever.

Ella blinked and stared blankly at the spot, "Huh..." She shook her head enthusiastically before returning to her cheery demeanor, "This is only proof that this is some interesting stuff, if they made it harder to reach!"

Bea timidly rebutted her, "I think it's just because of the update. It added a bunch of new interactions with monsters, and made it so they need to claim land and make dungeons in order to build and such."

Ella stared at her confused for a moment, "Why would they do that? It's clear they had some reason to make this sand unremovable normally..." She chewed on her thumb for a few moments, before giving a firm nod. "Welp, that settles it!"

You and Bea look at her in confusion, and Bea speaks your minds. "Settles what?"

Ella immediately begins searching through her bag, "I'm gunna give him a claimant crystal."

Bea recoiled, "WHAT! Do you know how much those go for on the market? You can't just give it away!"

Ella waved her off while continuing to search, "It doesn't matter, I have a few, and the... Gods just made them a guaranteed item anyway, the value is gunna plummet."

Bea was still in shock, "I... suppose, but still! I don't think people would be happy if they found out you helped a monster build a dungeon!"

At last Ella emerged from her oversized bag, smiling while holding a red crystal, "Well, who's gunna tell 'em?"

Bea stutters for a good minute trying to say something to stop Ella, but Ella gets bored and simply tosses you the crystal. You fail to catch it a few times, juggling it in fear of what may happen if you truly drop it, before at last swiping it from the air and clutching it in your hands.

Your hands shook as you turned them over and look at their contents. You would be hyperventilating if you could breathe, holding in your hands an opportunity any monster would (permanently) die for. You looked up at Ella slowly, reading her to make sure this wasn't some cruelly trick where she would kill you right before you used it.

You could see Bea looking between you two with a horrified expression. Before anyone of them could do anything, you attempted to use the crystal by smashing it. When you did, the crystal held, and a new window appeared.

Soon after that, before you even had time to question what the message was about, a second one popped up Infront of it.

You were stunned. You couldn't quite understand what was going on, but you knew one thing. You wanted to use the crystal on this place, and saying yes seemed to be the way. You tried to mentally project an affirmative, which the system accepted.

Bea and Ella watched in awe as the crystal floated out of your hands, glowing a deep red light. Once it was a bit above you, it began spinning at a rapid pace, before exploding in a burst of light. The light continued, encircling the area within and seemingly around the cave.

The other popups vanished, and were quickly replaced another.

This one was blocked by yet another popup, the sheer quantity of them beginning to annoy you.

Please Name Character

Your annoyance quickly changed to surprise, and then an empty feeling you couldn't quite place. Perhaps, deep down, it was that this showed you that the gods had not made you for some special purpose like Ella believed, and instead you truly were supposed to be an unnamed skeleton.

You shook your head, if that was the case, then you would defy the gods' path for you. You would be somebody, or at least something big. You would put your name out there, to be hailed just like your juniors. The only problem was, you needed to come up with one.

You scratched your chin for a moment, considering it. Your crowd witnessing this event mistook this for something going wrong.

Ella let out a sigh, "What is it now? Why wouldn't this work?" She quickly went back to being excited, "Well, this just proves that there is something of note here, as there is no other excuse for a game feature not working."

Bea let out a strange cough, "Bugs, bugs are an excuse." After recovering from her coughing fit, she noticed you gesturing to her. "What is it?"

You did a complex series of gestures, trying to communicate that it had, in fact, not failed. It took a good while to finally work that part out, but they didn't seem satisfied with your answer.

Ella wined, "But if it didn't fail, why didn't it work."

You did more hand signals, giving first a "no", and then you had to get creative with the second part. After a very long time, you eventually got them to open their Character Sheets, and gestured to the area you expected their names to be.

Bea was the one to figure it out, "Oh! It's because he doesn't have a name! Only named monsters can claim areas I guess..." She struggled in thought, "But then, how do we get them to name him?" You shook your head and pointed to yourself. "You can name yourself?" You nodded. She raised her eyebrows, "Huh, that... doesn't sound right..."

Ella was happy to step in, "Well then, just name yourself Mr. Skelly!" You stared blankly at her, unable to communicate without words how you were never going to let your official name be 'Mr. Skelly', not as long as you (un)lived. You simply shook your head, hoping that would end it. "Awww, but that's what I call you, isn't it? Though, I suppose if that was your name, it wouldn't be our special nickname, would it? Hmm, wow, you're smart for thinking of that, Mr. Skelly!" You took the praise as you could, overlooking the fact that that was not at all your intent.

After this, there began a great (somewhat) three-way discussion about what may be the greatest decision of your existence.
