Thinking

Spencer pulled up at Cindy's place that night, finding Cindy wearing a nightgown.

"Come on in Spencer. I wanna talk."

"Of course."

Spencer sat down with Cindy on her couch, noticing the stoic look on her face.

"So what's on your mind?"

"Well, I just wanna talk about this dating thing."

"You're serious about that?"

"Well... ummm that's the thing..."

"What is it?"

"I'm just not... great with commitment... I mean haven't been in the past..." A tear went down Cindy's face.

"Did you cheat on someone?"

Cindy's face crumpled up with frustration as she shouts "That's all anyone thinks of me. All I am is the town whore to everyone."

She stormed off of the couch so Spencer said "Cindy... I'm sorry."

His words caused Cindy to pause. She then inhaled a deep breath, unsure of what to say next.

"That was unfair, okay? And I'm sorry."

"It's okay Spence." Cindy sighed.

"Seriously Cindy. You're a great teacher, and you're always friendly and easy going... and hell, I'm the last person who should complain about your sex drive."

Cindy sniggered for a second as Spencer put a hand on her shoulder.

"How about a glass of water?"

"That's probably a good idea."

Cindy sat back down on the couch as Spencer went to get two glasses of water. As he poured the drinks, Spencer wondered what had gotten into Cindy. Dating had seemed to be the last thing he'd expect Cindy propose. Then again, he realized that the only thing he could expect with Cindy is the unexpected. Back in the living room, he saw Cindy sitting down, having calmed down.

When he sat next to her, he asked "You good?"

"Yeah."

The two took a sip of water. "Look, the bottom line is that I'm willing to take this as far as you want, okay?"

"Okay."

"Do you wanna think about it?"

"That might be best."

"Okay. I'll see you soon Cindy."

"Sure Spence."

Spencer patted her back before standing up.

"Spence?"

"Yeah?"

"Whatever happens, it's been fun so far. Thanks."

"It certainly has been fun."

Spencer walked off, as Cindy wondered what role he'd play in her future. For the longest time, she felt like she'd never settle down, but maybe that time had come. Maybe Spencer was more than just another fling.
