Chapter 7 by supremelord170 supremelord170

What do you do?

The way out is blocked

As much as you want to destroy this monstrosity for defiling your sister, the mission tasked to you by the War Mother is of far greater importance. You crouch low and sneak past the beast into the farthest passage between the bookshelves. Only once you make it safely do you whisper a prayer for forgiveness.

The passage is clear of the monsters, and you have no trouble making your way towards the door to the stables. Unfortunately, there is no way you can use it; a bizarre creature that reminds you of a pig has captured another of your sisters, though this is one you are not familiar with, and is violating her in front of the exit. You curse at that thing, for both its' actions against your sister as well as its' preventing for your escape. You'll just have to find another way. As you are about to turn back, the unknown sister locks eyes with you. You try to remember who she is, despite the beast's fluids masking her face, before you realize that she might alert her tormentor to your presence. Her mouth opens, but her eyes roll back into her head as a loud moan of satisfaction escape her lips. You quietly leave, unable to take the sight anymore.

You slowly creep back the way you came, trying to figure out your escape. The abbey was built to resist attackers, with only the exit out to the stables and the main entrance as the entry points. You had heard about there might be a few secret passages as well, but you do not have the time to search for them, even if they exist. If you cannot escape to the stables, you must escape through the main hall.

You pause in your thoughts as you come once more upon the daemon violating Sister Constance. It has not stopped, but has moved both itself and your sister into a new location. It is thankfully away from the entrance to the library, and you easily slip away. You pause briefly, a last look at Constance and notice a strange red shape upon her belly. You are unsure why the evil monster would take the time to lay paint upon her, but you continue on your way.

You make your way toward the main hall, avoiding the occasional beast searching the halls. As you get closer, however, you recall something else. The only way to reach the main hall, is to cross the dining hall. You are about to utter some foul words, until you finish your thought. The only way to reach the main hall is to cross the dining hall, UNLESS you could use the Paths of the Goddess! You are unsure as to why you forgot about that, after all, the Goddess showing you the Paths within the Abbey was the only reason you were going to become a paladin at the age of 19. You had been chosen to become a member of the Silent Watch, the Goddess' greatest defenders. Remembering that fact also raises worry, the six members that resided here, hidden by the Goddess from the eyes of all save themselves, should have easily destroyed the monsters before they could claim even a single sister. What has happened to them?

It doesn't take long to reach the chamber that leads to the dining hall as well as one of the Paths.
However, you are cautious. You are certain that the largest concentration of the foul beasts is here, and you do not want to attract them. You lay yourself flat along the corridor wall, glad that the hallway is at an off direction, and glance out. You smile, it seems the beasts didn't want to alert any sisters not at the feast of what was occurring, and closed the door. Their mistake.

You cross the threshold, and discover something horrifying; there is a sister impaled to the wall across from the doors to the dining hall, held off the ground by two spears made of what appears to be pure darkness that are longer than your arm. You approach her, trying to both see if there is anything you can do as well as to see who she is. Her head is turned, hiding the left side from you, but you do not recognize her, and the spears do not seem to leave a wound. Indeed, there is no bleeding where they are lodged in her chest, merely some redness. Though something about her is familiar.

Recognition hits you suddenly. You know this outfit. It shows more rips and tears, but it is the
garb of the War Mother herself. Gone is the graying hair, the faint wrinkles, and other signs of
age. What have they do-

The now-identified War Mother suddenly lurches to life, her body tensing and head outstretching toward the heavens. It also reveals what you could not see; her ear and much of the side of her head have become a vibrant red, and you believe you see a horn forming in her hair. Though damaged, her garb still hides a good amount of herself, so you do not know if more has changed. Her eyes have become yellow with corruption, yet seem to see nothing, looking at you without identifying yourself or even showing some spark of intelligence. You then watch as the spears' great length shrinks by a hand, and the War Mother thrashes anew. Her mouth opens, and you witness her tongue enlarges and blackens.

You tear your eyes away, and quickly cross the rest of the way to the Path. You want your mind to remember the War Mother as the kind, yet fierce and disciplined woman she was, not the daemonic abomination she was becoming.

The Path itself appears to most as a simple wall, with a simple stand and a vase with a single rose placed upon it. To you, it is merely an archway leading into a corridor, something you make use of with haste. The corridor is bland, simple and almost lifeless; a stark difference from the rest of the abbey's halls. But that is enough for the Silent Watch. Even better, it is as clear as you were certain of. You move quickly, and are soon standing opposite of the main entrance.

What do you find?
