The other answer is...

"No!" You stare at her with a cold hard expression. "This isn't happening Melanie, and it never will."

You watch her as she absolutely shatters before your eyes. "...nooooo..." She crumples to the floor, kneeling at your feet. She begins to sob, plump tears falling to the yoga mat.

Kneeling down you hug her, she doesn't return it. She sobs into your chest. "Noooo...why...?"

"Melanie...Laney...don't you know how wrong that is? I'm your father. I love you but not in that way. Don't you understand?" You continue to hug and stroke her, she doesn't answer you. You continue. "You'll meet a nice man some day, you'll see. You've got so much to offer. You're such a wonderful young lady."

In a small mousey voice she whimpers. "I don't want anyone else...and there's no more time..."

That last comment confused you, but you just roll with it. "Mel, you're still so young. You have all the time in the world."

The two of you sit like this for a long time. Melanie bowed and crying with you hugging her and comforting her. You really wished that Natali were her real mother, she might be able to help you out with this. That wasn't the type of relationship they had however. Eventually Melanie collects herself. She gets up and steps away from you, looking at you with pain and regret. She doesn't say a word as she leaves the gym.

"Melanie...Melanie!" You call after her but she is gone.

What a disaster! You make your way back to the bedroom to get cleaned up and changed.
