The Woman

You watch as she leaves a few coins on the table before saying goodbye to several other patrons and taking her leave. To your surprise she approaches your table near the door and looks you up and down.

“Well look at you! where are you from mister?”

You give a little grin to offset the initial confusion of the unexpected interaction before answering.

“My family are Scandinavian, I’m just grabbing a meal between-“

She puts her hands down on the table and leans a little toward you.

“Trains right? We get a lot of travellers through. You’re one of the rare ones who even step off the platform. How long are you here for?”

You quickly concoct a false reason for travel, a false destination, and a fake name mentally. You’re not a practised liar, but you know how to not get lynched.
