The Truth, Aryca has changed.

Once again waking in the hospital Aurthur sees his mother sitting in the chair at his bedside holding his hand. Aurthur immediately increased his grip as much as possible without hurting her, needless to say after almost six weeks of recovery it wasn't very hard. "Mom, please tell me what happened and where is Aryca?!?!?!"

She lowered her eyes for a moment before glancing at the young woman. Taking a deep breath before she started to speak, "The accident that you were injured in was horrible. Several people were killed and dozens more suffered injuries falling between minor scrapes up to a few severe trauma cases like your own. The only reason your injuries weren't worse in that the impact happened on Aryca's side of the car. Her injuries were far worse that even yours," tears were welling in her eyes as she described this. With every word she spoke Aurthur's fears increased, "It was fortunate that so many emergency service personnel were near the park as they were able to extricate and rush the worst injured to the trauma centers. Aryca's injuries were the worst at the scene, and she was flown out to top rated trauma facility via flight for life." She took a deep breath before continuing, "I'll need to let the surgeons from that hospital explain the rest as I don't fully understand it all myself."

One of the surgeons he didn't know stepped forward, "I'm Dr. Halifax and I apologize for not being able to get here sooner to explain."

'"Please just tell me what's going on," Aurthur pleaded.

"I will but please bear with me as the explanation is complex. The first thing we need though is for you to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement due to the nature of the conversation," Dr. Halifax stated while another man in a suit placed a paper and pen on the rolling table in front of him. "We have permission from the patient to discuss what happened with you however the document is still required."

With and exasperated growl of, "Fine!" Aurthur signed the paper, "just tell me what has happened to Aryca!!!"

Dr. Halifax smiled which made Aurthur want to punch him in it, "Certainly, Aryca's injuries were severe to the point of being fatal without extraordinary measures being taken. After bringing her back the third time we realized there would be no way to shave her body. However, there was still an extremely radical option, we've been experimenting with the possibility of a partial brain transplant where we would remove the portions of the brain that hold a person's consciousness and memories and place them into a donor body grafted to the portions of that brain that controlled motor function and muscle memory. The procedure had not yet been approved for use, but we felt that to save a life we should do it. While Miss Chase was being kept alive in the operating room another patient came in suffering from headaches and dizziness. She collapsed from an aneurism a few minutes later and was rushed into the OR next to Miss Chase's. As the patient had no living family and was an organ donor, we took the chance and performed the transplant procedure. It was a complete success with Miss Chase recovering quickly and being released from the hospital about three weeks ago. We've not announced the transplant nor its success in order to allow her to live as normal a life as she can going forward."

Upon hearing the end of this Aurthur's gaze focused on the woman who has been coming in with his mother. He focused on her face and was wondering why she seemed familiar as he still didn't recognize her.
