Who is the woman and what connection if any exists between Aurthur and Her?
Abigail Gates, 30-year-old mother of one of his freshmen students
It took him a moment to recognize the woman having only met her once and just the Friday before the accident. Her daughter Kasey was going to be in his freshman class for English & Literature this year, or she was considering school started more than a month ago. Her hair, a deep red, was shaved close to her head as if just growing back out. When he'd last seen her, it was flowing down her back almost to her waist. She looked tired and stressed standing there watching him. His head was starting to hurt, attempting to process what they just told him with that he was seeing in front of him? His heart started to race as dizziness crept into his vision. The alarms on his vitals started beeping loud and clear. A nurse stepped forward and injected a sedative via the IV in his arm. Withing seconds his eyes were closed and he was drifting into darkness. Right before he was completely out cold, he heard his mother speak, "it'll be okay, we'll talk to him about everything when he's awake and more stable. I know it's difficult and there's so much we need to explain about everything, but we can't overwhelm him until he has had more time to recover."
He dreamed of the date night with Aryca on Memorial Day, the walk in the park, the fireworks show, the proposal during the finale and her ecstatic yes. Then he slipped into nightmares about the wreck, dying on the table, then imagining her dying on the table three times as the doctors had told him. Them the real nightmares started with him chasing after Aryca in a crowd and every time he reached who he thought was her the person would turn to him and be faceless, the inability to find her making his despair deeper and more soul crushing than the last.
