The Monster Champion (main timeline, present, Comfygamer 2nd) (active)

This story will follow an (un)fortunate human from earth that has been pulled into a world of fantasy by the gods from another reality. As a piece in a grand war/game between deities vying for power, they are doomed/fated to be involved in various conflicts, be an influence on the outcome of events, and/or struggle simply trying to survive.

After their soul was plucked out of their body and whisked away, they were left with only their thoughts available to them. All they could do was think. The sensations their body used to provide were all gone. There were no sights, sounds, smells, or anything to feel. This might have been maddening if stuck in this state of nothingness. Thankfully after a brief period of time, barely long enough to contemplate the abject horror of the situation, a voice could be heard speaking directly to their thoughts.

"I don't have the patience to speak to you all individually and explain everything. The short of it is that your old life is over and your new life will be in service to a deity of your choosing, but choose quickly. One per deity. Each of you will be instrumental in the latest Grand Pantheonic War." There is a short pause then a sigh before the voice continues. "Or game as some would like it to be referred to now. As **** and bloodshed isn't nessacary, but it's going to happen. Calling it anything other than a war is just foolish. AHEM. Anyway, some of the other gods created this convoluted thing to help you all make a decision."

Something akin to GUI **** its way into the aforementioned human's thoughts. That's what they assumed at least since they could not look away from it or close their eyes to not see it. Not that they had any eyes to even close at the moment. Shortly after this thing that looked like a character creation screen appeared in their mind, a new voice followed explaining how to interact with it. The selection of deities seemed endless, species/races were vast, and almost any idea that could be thought up for a class was present. It was a lot like a character creation menu. But primarily a few rebuilt options per diety with a limited selection of things to modify or choose after that.

While trying to contemplate things and get a proper grasp on the situation at hand, the option of various deities began to dispear. At first, such went unnoticed. But eventually an option being looked at was removed. This instill a bit of panic and it became increasingly obvious that a choice would need to be made quickly. But the seemingly good and or fun options were snagged up fast.

Eventually the commitment to being the champion for the "monster deity" was selected. The details of such were skimmed over. It sounded cool and with the fear of getting stuck with bottom of the barrel picks due to indecisiveness, a hastily made decision was deemed best in the moment. Though there would soon be some regrets.
