The Cheerleader!

My newfound super-politeness made me look at school in a whole new way.

I left Ms Roman's office content and with zen-like feelings of happiness, until I ran into my fellow students shortly afterwards.

Curtis Reynolds was coming down the corridor with his arm around the shoulder of Mimi Philips. Mimi was 18 year old dynamite. Blonde youth perfection in a microscopic skirt with a gleaming smile and so far out of my league that it made my head spin. I could barely even look at her normally she was so stunning. Curtis was also physically perfect although I hated to admit it. He outweighed me by about 50 pounds of sheer muscle and was taller too. I don't think I had ever hated anyone more once he started dating Mimi. They were the cool set. Other specimens of beauty orbited around them. They were the King & Queen of High School.

They brushed past me without even noticing me. I stepped aside to let them and their entourage pass (2 or 3 members each of the football team and cheerleaders) then paused. Maybe its time for a change here.

"Curtis, Mimi. Wait please." I called.

They both turned to look for the source of the voice, having been (I'm convinced) completely unaware of my existence up till that point. Maybe I should consider invisibility an extra power. "Umm, Rick isn't it", said Curtis, "What do you want?"

"Everyone else, please carry on", I ushered the entourage away. The supporting cast of Jocks and cheerleaders drifted along the corridor leaderless, leaving me with Curtis and Mimi. "Please, both of you, split up. No hard feelings. Please just stay friends."

"Uh. Ok. What..?" queried Curtis.

"Now, please Curtis, go away and try to date the fattest girl in our year."

"Ok - thats a good idea. I like big girls." He smiles and shrugs and heads down the hallway at a trot, leaving me alone with the hottest girl in school.

"Huh. Now I don't even have a boyfriend", she says striking a petulant pose.

"Please Mimi, just want to be my girlfriend."

She suddenly looked at me differently. I could see the pupils in her crystal blue eyes dilate a little and her mouth open slightly.

"Rick, I, would you want to maybe go out sometime? with me?" she asked hesitantly.

"Sure!" I smiled benevolently at her. She looked thrilled. "Why don't I come round to your place tonight? Say 8?"

"I,... I don't know". she started and looked torn.

I wondered what the problem was.

"Please be ready, I'll be there at 8."

She nervously gave me her address, then I shouldered my backpack and turned and strolled off looking forward to my date tonight.
