The "The Affection Multiplier" interface appears

You rub the bracelet and eagerly wait for a reaction. The bracelet starts to glow in a light blue tone. You feel as if you have been teleported in a sci-fi movie. The bracelet pulsates and the blue light slowly expands, filling the entire room. You gape around the room in astonishment, watching the dancing blue light on the walls. The blue light is suddenly sucked into the bracelet.

You turn your head away and screw up your eyes, expecting an explosion; but nothing happens. You stay in this position, nevertheless, your arm stretched out as far as possible.

You open your eyes again cautiously and see that the bracelet projects a hologram in the air in front of you:

You spot a small note below that. It instructs you to either press “yes” or “no”. It follows by saying that your decision will be permanent and can’t be changed later.

You know that you won’t stop now. You followed all instructions to this point to figure out if there is a connection to the robbery. Therefore, you are willing to face any consequences that pressing “Yes” entails. It can’t get any worse, you tell yourself. You may even consider it as an act of mercy if it kills you. **** is easier than anything you expect to face in your near future.

You notice that you still hold your arm stretched away from you, so you put your, now aching, arm down. Before you can develop doubts, you press “Yes”. Your hand pushes through the hologram because you forgot that it hasn’t got a solid surface. It works, nevertheless. An Introduction appears in front of you.

Welcome. The Affection Multiplier effects all parts of your social life from now on and is permanent. Relationships with people will be built two* times faster than usual. You can keep track of your relationships, too. The Affection Multiplier gives every relationship a numeric value. You can inspect your scores in the “Score” section in the menu. How to activate/close the screen: rub the bracelet.

You tap on the screen to advance and it changes to what looks like the menu. The sections are arranged in a circle. You choose to look at the “Score” section first. You still think the bracelet is a joke but the moment you see everyone you know on this list you change your mind. Everyone is listed there with their picture; not just their real names, but also the nicknames, you gave them, are mentioned.

You notice, much to your dismay, that everyone but one has a negative score. Aubrey is the only one with a positive score. However, considering the negative score of -100 of the devil, a positive score of 9 isn’t much.

You decide to check the other sections later as you hear a knock on the door. You close the screen and say, “Come in”.
