Tara asks the obvious question

You sit for a little while, just looking out at the darkened scenery. {if TaraSexLvl > 2

"Thanks... for coming to get me." She says it quietly, but after the long silence, it startles you. {if TaraSexLvl >2
} She leans over and kisses your lips softly. You can't help yourself but return the affection.
"My pleasure. Most guys never get the chance to be the 'knight in shining armor' cliche." You hold her gaze for a moment.

"No problem, Tara. Don't ever be afraid to call me, or Jenna for that matter, if you're in a situation like that. We'll help you if we can." Her hand on your arm spikes your pulse a little.

}"So.... I hate to address the elephant in the car, James, but.... why was Brian afraid of you?"
You had hoped this might slip by unnoticed.
"My father's name carries some weight in this town, that's all. He had a lot of... friends." You're being cryptic, but you don't really want to say more.
"Like...Georgie?" Fuck, why had Brian had to say that name...
"Georgie Marzano. My dad's cousin. He helped my dad start his company in the late 70s. He's retired and lives in San Diego now."
"But why would...oh..." she's putting the pieces together.
"Georgie's good people. A lot of.... extended family connections, you get me?" You tried very hard to stay out of that part of your family history.
"Wow. I thought that didn't really exist anymore."
"They aren't as influential as they used to be, but they never really went away." You decide to put on some music to change the subject. You spin your shuffle, and one of your favorite Jazz pieces, Giant Steps by John Coltrane, begins to play. Tara probably doesn't want to listen to it, though, so you reach for the stereo to change it.
"Oh... I love Coltrane." She smiles, nodding her head to the tune.
"What?!" you are slack-jawed. "How do you even know who John Coltrane is?"
Tara gives you a look, but then she just explains. "When I was 11, my mom starting dating this guy, Arthur. He was this black musician and artist, and he loved jazz. He was one of the good ones: he was always nice to me, and he used to bring old jazz records over and play them for me, and he taught me about the greats." She smiles, and it's nice to hear her reminiscing.
"What happened to him?"
Tara's expression grows sad. "Well, he was nice, and a great musician, but he wasn't rich. Mom dated him for about 5 months, then she left him for a rich guy she met at a bar, a banker name Charlie..." she rubs her thumb with her other finger. "He...wasn't as nice to me as Arthur was."
Wow... this girl is like an onion. Whenever you think you have her figured out, she shows you something else.
Giant Steps runs its course, with both of you bopping to one of the greatest jazz standards of all time. Then the music shuffles...
