Chapter 22 by TheUnfathomable TheUnfathomable

How does it look?

Surprisingly fitting

As you look the now completed statue over, you notice some changes from the blueprint. The most notable was that it now was clearly made in the same stone and general style as the rest of the tomb, making it not stick out too much.

However, what came next was surprising. She seemed to be in a rather submissive posture, making her be in a different stance than the more prideful one the blueprint had displayed. To top it off, she wore the same collar that Sahara had.

As you looked at it closely, a menu appeared in front of it.

Effigy of the Sand Mother:
Fennicfolk in dungeon=1
Fennicfolk leader=Sahara
Opinion of Fennicfolk=Satisfied/Submissive
Fennicfolk requests=None Entered
The Effigy of the Sand Mother gives a place for Fennicfolk and others who follow their religion to pray and gather. Having one will make them happier and grant a location to check on their condition and any requests they may have in one place. Its appearance changes to match the most common feeling among those who use it, with at least one trait decided specifically by their leader.

Looking over the description, it did sound useful. If you did gather more minions that were Fennicfolk, it seemed like it helped moral. Plus, it functioned as a suggestion box of sorts, and allowed you to check on their condition at any time.

Looking at it again, despite her submissive posture, she did look quite happy. One could say perfectly at peace, even though she has a collar of enslavement around her neck and is in position to serve an unseen master.

As you turn to examine Sahara, you can definitely see that it most certainly embodies her current feelings. She was blushing just looking at it, subconsciously toying with her own collar as she rubbed her legs together somewhat subtly.

It takes her a while to actually notice you looking at her in her... distracted state. "Huh? Ah-uh-um, sorry, what is it?" You stare at her for a moment before slowly turning your head to the Effigy, and slowly looking back to her.

You then put your fingers over your eye sockets to imitate eyebrows, raising one to form a somewhat questioning expression. You then tilt your head forward while raising the other finger, and lastly lift them both up and down a few times in a somewhat mocking manner.

She quickly raises her hands in front of her to defend herself. "I-its not like that! I didn't design this thing, you did! Why are you putting this on me?" You lean back again and lower one of your finger-brows.

You then gesture to the Effigy, instructing her to watch it closely. She looks at you in confusion but goes along with it anyway. After a few seconds, you see her react to the menu appearing. Just a second or two after that, her entire exposed body turns red.

She jerks her head to look at you, your arms now crossed in front of you as you mentally slow blink at her. "I-this-it isn't-I swear-" She doesn't manage to get a single full sentence out before she simply grabs her hood and pulls it down to cover her face, seemingly going to a happy place.

You decide to leave her alone for a minute, you have nothing to gain from teasing her after all. As you think about what to do, you are reminded of the fact there was actually a second feature you could construct now.

Going back into the build menu, you look to see what your options are.

Feature List: (Medium, Ceiling)
Living Statue Trap: Lacking Construct Core (level 10)
Chandelier: Possible
Puzzle: Lacking Puzzle Mechanism
Falling Weapon Trap: Possible
Falling Coffin Trap: Lacking Undead/Corpse
Daemon Gargoyles: Possible
Mysterious Fog: Lacking Herbs/Mystic
Fennec Tenting: Lacking Hide
Glass Art Roofing: Possible
...

As you look through them all you... Don't actually like any of them. A chandelier didn't fit the general feeling of this dungeon, and neither did a glass roof. You don't want the only habitable area of your dungeon to have a trap in it either.

Looking at the others, the Daemon Gargoyles gave you the feeling they were unlocked by Twinsoul, which made you inclined against choosing it like before. You would guess its counterpart to be the fog due to placement, and it being the only one that seemed thematic at all.

With no real good options, you simply close the menu in annoyance before tapping your foot a few times. Great, now you had to find something else to do to keep yourself occupied. You looked about, **** for an activity to pass any amount of time.

Sahara was still standing while holding her hood over her face, seemingly talking to herself from the sounds of her muffled mumblings. The Scarab was of course performing its true purpose of creating the greatest pile of sand-orbs this world will ever see.

With your two minions out of the way, it would seem you had to entertain yourself. You drum your fingers upon your skull as you try to think of anything to do. Suddenly, you realize, you could check what to do with your rather large abundance of Fame.

You quicky go to your character sheet, opening it and maneuvering to the Fame tab

Fame: 438
Got a minion! + 15 (Expanded)
Got a minor Minion! + 1
First time bonus! + 5
Adoration Recruitment! + 2
Lured from another faction! + 2
Minion is an NPC! + 5

That was definitely helpful, and now you look over to the ways to spend it.

Undead Liegelord: 1/10 (Racial ability) (20 fame)
Ancient Liegelord: 1/10 (Dungeon ability) (20 fame)
Evolve Form: 500 fame, must be level 10 at least
Summon Minion: 1/5 +0/5 (50 fame)

You are somewhat disappointed at the lack of new options, but you still had to make a decision...

What will you spend your fame on?
