Soon Be Lunch

Jamie and Brooke set to the task at hand (after Jamie gathered himself that is). After going through a number of different processes that he dealt with on a day to day basis, Jamie got up from his chair. "Okay Brooke, I've shown you a few bits of what we do here. I think it's time we grabbed a quick tea break. Been at this for nearly 2 hours now."

"Yeah. Good idea. That's the longest time I've spent starring at a computer screen without doing anything for a good while." Getting up from her chair too. "Dad negleted to tell me where the loo was."

"Oh, luckily it's just near the kitchen. I'll show you where that is and the ladies loo is the door opposite." Jamie informed her. As they headed to the kitchen, Matty looked up from his desk thinking and grinning lucky bastard. Brooke went into the ladies room and Jamie went in the kitchen and waited for Brooke to join him.

"That's better." Brooke said as she entered the kitchen. By now Matty and a few other had joined him too. A couple would leave shortly to satisfy the nicotine craving, others returned to their desks to relax while having a quick bite with their teas or coffees. Brooke headed over to Jamie who was busy talking to Matty.

Jamie turned to Brooke. "This is Matthew, but we all call him Matt or Matty." Then turning To Matt, "This is Brooke, Our bosses daughter." They shook hands with Brooke staing "Don't panic. I think my dad's a tosser too. Had to be to get where he is." Matty looked like he had a massive weight lifted from his shoulders. Brooke giggled. They made small talk for a short while before heading back to work. "Okay Brooke, you take my chair. I'ts your turn." Brooke looked at Jamie.

"You sure, I've only been shown this for a couple of hours or so."

"Nothing like hands on experience. Plus, I think it's best that you learn bits then get use to them and then learn a few other things. I'm not gonna inundate you with everything in one go." Jamie replied.

"Thanks. That's really considerated of you. Maybe that's why dad asked you to teach me." Brooke playfully smirked at her comment.

"Anything is possible." Jamie joked back. Brooke sat and and started using the training programmes to familiarise herself. Jamie still had to deal with the odd phone call or two when it got busy, but used his back up lack top to deal with it so he didn't disturb Brooke too much.

"So." Brooke stopped for a while. "What you guys do for lunch round here? It's nearly one o clock."

"You kidding, We're in the middle of London. You've got quite a bit a selection out there unless you brought a pack up in with you."

"No. To be honest, I didn't even think about it. First day nerves and that."

"Makes sense. I've got to go out and get something myself anyway, not sure what I want yet though."

"Well you been great at letting me learn things properly. How about I buy you lunch as a thank you for being a great teacher."

"You sure? I mean, you've not had a job until today."

"Definite. I'm not skint. Dad gave me a healthy allowance when I went to college, and I still have a fair bit of it left. So, my treat?"

"Yeah, no problem." With that, they discussed what they was going to have for food. Over the lunch break, they talked about each other's lives outside of work. Brooke was 19, lived with her mum. Her parents split due to her dad'a abusive nature towards his wife. An Jamie returned the same relevant information back as they spoke. However, Jamie notice that time was short and was trying to get Brooke to hurry incase they get back late. The rest of the day passed as Brooke continued to learn.

At the end Brooke turned to Jamie. "By the way, I understand this place had never an office party."

"Not to my knowledge there hasn't been."

"Okay, Well I managed to talk my dad into having one before i started here. Said it would help me settle in. I've arrange for it to be a fancy dress one for a laugh on the Halloween weekend."

"Oh god, really. Fancy dress." Then though about it, "I could flip your dad the bird and he wouldn't know who it was." Brooke gave Jamie a hug and said thank you again before leaving to head home. As Jamie did too.
