Someone else makes the first move, and some math happens

By the time you finish your shift a few hours later, you're feeling pretty optimistic about your circumstances. Not that there's been much movement on the app. In the moments you've had to check it, you haven't gotten any more achievement notifications, and it doesn't look like Morgan's scores have changed. And it's not like she's been avoiding you. Whenever you're without a bagger, and she's in the store, she's there at your lane. What's even more strange is that she seems way more engaged with the job than usual. You've never her seen this friendly towards customers before, not that that's a high bar to clear. She's smiling most of the time she's working with you, making her whole demeanor more welcoming than usual. Which, not that you're totally certain, may well be a manifestation of the perk you bought her. All in all, you can't help but be in good spirits when it comes time to end your shift.

You run into Morgan as you're going to clock out, her apron already over her shoulder.

"Well you seem chipper," she says as she notices your brighter state.

"Yeah, I guess your good mood is rubbing off on me," you reply.

"You're welcome, but don't tell anyone," she says with her usual wry smile. "I've got a reputation as an ice cold bitch to maintain."

"Thanks for the little pep talk, by the way."

She turns away from you a bit, but she's still got her wry smile on. "No prob. You got any plans now that you're off?"

You shrug. "I've still got that video to upload, but other than that, not really. I guess I should record at some point today, seeing as I'm already behind."

"Well, if you're not too busy," she says while refusing to make eye contact with you, "Maybe we could hang out?"

It takes a moment for you to actually process what she just said. "Hang out?" you ask, immediately regretting not just saying yes.

She nods, still not looking at you. "Yeah, like... not at work. Maybe go grab a late lunch, or whatever."

"YES," you reply emphatically, before clearing your throat. "Yeah, sure. Sounds fun."

She finally looks directly at you, but she's got her poker face on at this point. "Cool. I've got your number, so I'll text you my address. You're driving. Pick me up at three." And as soon as she's done talking, she turns on her heel to leave, not even giving you a chance to interject.

You're left standing alone at the punch clock, wondering what just happened. Which is a state you've found yourself in a lot lately. It's obvious to you now that you can confirm the changes in Morgan's scores on the app are accurate, not that you doubted them to begin with, and Morgan is obviously interested in you. This was basically her asking you out on a date, right? Just last night, the app said you were "Work Friends". You know the app said it let you build relationships faster, but this seems really fucking fast!

The next hour are spent getting everything you need ready. You've set the video to upload, though it's going to take some time. You've changed into a more casual outfit, complete with a nice faux-leather jacket to keep you warm. You've made sure your hair isn't too much of a mess. And of course, you've checked the app for any more information.

At the moment, it's got nothing on Morgan, but while you were futzing around with it, you got the idea to check your profile. The first thing you notice is that your wants have been updated.

Wants: Somebody to Love, A Great First Date, Something Physical With Morgan

None of them are surprising, but the other thing to draw your eye is your gem count. Which has gone up substantially.

Gems: 850

So that's 500 gems for two achievements. Which averages out to 250 per achievement.

Alright, you can use deductive reasoning on this. Time to do some math.

If you had 250 before you bought a perk for Morgan, and you're getting 250 per achievement, then the only purchase that could've filled in the blank here would be Shoulder to Cry On, right? If you remember correctly, it had a purchase price of 150 gems. 250 minus 150 is 100. Add 250 to that, equals 350. 350 was how many you had after unlocking Taylor's achievement, so sure enough, your math checks out.

The numbers don't lie! With the information at your disposal, the nurturing perk is the only possible purchase you could have made. It's a load off your mind to have some sort of confirmation that you haven't screwed the pooch too badly here. To celebrate, you decide it's time to check what you've got available for yourself in the store today! Sure, it didn't go so well when you opened up Morgan's store, but you can't really complain about the perk you bought. Even if Lil' Jason was a little annoying to reposition sometimes. To your surprise, you had to surreptitiously adjust from under your apron a few times during your shift. Who'd have thought having a Louisville Slugger in the pants would have a downside?

Anyway, the perks available are:

Love Is All That You Need (500 Gems): As long as someone has a love score with you over 50, you no longer need to sleep or eat, though you may do so without any repercussions if you desire. You do still need to breathe, though, so don't drown or anything.

Kiss From a Rose (250 Gems): You've got the golden lips, and a natural talent for using them. Also, you'd probably make a great trumpet player. Any point gains from kissing are doubled. Also, you're better at using your mouth for other things, if you know what we mean.

Toned and Tight (400 Gems): Who hasn't wanted better abs? Well now you have them. You now no longer need to hit the gym to look toned and fit, and your body stores less fat than previously. This perk does not significantly alter your body shape or general mass, though, so if you want to bulk up, you'll still have to put the work in.

Oof, these are some tough contenders. Love is All That You Need is still sticking around from last time, but the other two are also tough to consider. On one hand, if you buy Kiss From a Rose, you can still afford one of the other two. Assuming the app lets you buy more than one at a time, of course; you remember thar when you bought Morgan's perk (completely on accident), you couldn't find a way back into her store screen. And regardless, you might see something that you want to buy later, and you're still not a hundred percent on how achievements actually work, seeing as there's no hints for them. Maybe you won't even buy any of them at the moment.
