Chapter 39

Frantic fighting
Slime King
I use the repair function of craft on my clothes quickly, then look up and dive to the side, barely managing to avoid the column of slime coming for me. The knife wounds are closing up, and I fire some icicles at the boss, hitting the boss with all three projectiles with relative ease. Shallow cuts are visible through the King’s body. It starts to move towards me, and while it’s movement speed is faster than the lesser slimes, it’s still slow enough that I can outrun it.
My mind racing to try to figure out a proper plan of action, I let loose a mana bolt. The spell burns another hole through the boss’ body. I check my mana, and I can only use the spell 5 more times before I run out of mana.
I use icicles instead to conserve mana, one after another slamming into the Slime King and cutting trenches through the animated slime. More bubbling on the surface of its body signifies another attack, and I’m ready this time. Fluidly, I take a few steps to my right to move out of the way. I continue my barrage of icicles as the columns of slime hiss through the air.
The attack is different this time though, the slime that the King used for the attack takes longer to be drawn back into its body. It’s weakening! The multiple cuts and slices on its body that aren’t closing up anymore are the other indication of that. Icicles are starting to form all over the Slime King’s body, a result of the huge amount of frost magic that I’ve thrown at the boss over the course of this fight.
I renew the onslaught of icicles as it starts bubbling once more to do that column attack. Calmly moving once more out of the way of the clearly telegraphed attack, I keep firing. My mana is down to 49 by this point, but the boss is clearly nearly finished. The columns shoot out at a much slower pace than they have so far, and the slime collapses to form a trail on the grassy plain instead of being drawn back into the monster’s huge body.
The Slime King wobbles in place, no longer having the strength to move. My mana bar ticks over to 50 and I fire twin mana bolts out of both my hands, hoping that this isn’t the reckless move that dooms me. My mana bar drains completely in an instant, the twin spells rapidly closing the distance between the boss and I, before burning large holes through it’s damaged body. The Slime King quivers once, twice, then dissolves into dust.

I breathe a sigh of relief and sink to the ground slowly. Looking around the now safe grassy plain, I can see quite a few glowing spots on the ground where the enemies have dropped loot. I take a few minutes to rest, despite recovering my stamina incredibly quickly thanks to Gamer’s Body. I spend my newly acquired skill points on intellect, boosting it to 45 and making my total mana bar at 244. Luckily, the level up has fully restored my MP and HP, so I’m not in any danger.
After a few minutes resting on the ground, I walk around the plain, picking up all the loot. I stow it in my inventory for the moment, then I take a deep breath and exit the barrier. Immediately scanning my surroundings, I breathe a sigh of relief that there aren’t any gangs in sight. I walk the short distance back to my apartment and get inside, closing the door behind me. I get to my room and start to look through all the loot I got from the slime dungeon.
A look to my money reveals that the number has increased by nearly $15,000, leaving me with about $60,000. A very nice sum, especially for one dungeon run. I got some jars of green and blue slime from the lesser slimes, both of which are crafting materials. I might have a craft skill, but I really don’t think I can make anything out of them.
Maybe I can upgrade some stuff instead? I strip off my jacket and jeans, putting each in a pile with an equal number of jars of green and blue slime. I use craft on each, select the option to upgrade each and check the results with observe. The sheet doesn’t reveal anything super interesting, only an increase in armour rating. The name of each item has gone up to MK III though, so that’s something. Putting my new armour aside, I check the rest of the items of loot.
Next is some healing slime from the boss. I only have one, but it’ll be very useful, healing items always are. I stow that back in my inventory for the moment, resolving to only use it when I need to. The next item is a small velvet pouch. I open it and look inside. It contains a few small pearls. Observing each of them reveals there to be nothing special about the gems, just that they’re worth a bit of money. I put those on the auction too.
The last two items are a little more interesting. I pull out a pillow that observe reveals to be the Great Slime Pillow Of Comfort, from the Slime King. It doesn’t have many special attributes, it’s just supposed to be a really comfortable pillow that automatically molds itself based on how the user is laying on it, adjusting it’s own softness and height for maximum comfort. The description talks about it as if it’s a much better and magical version of memory foam. After putting it on my bed and laying on it, I decide that I have to agree with the description. It is really comfortable. I put it back in my inventory, resolving to sleep on it later.
The last item is my first legendary drop! I’m super excited to see what they can actually do. The pair of panties looks a little odd. They feel like silk, which is strange given that they’re supposed to be made of slime. I open the observe window to see just what makes them so special that they’re a legendary piece of loot.
I read the attribute descriptions, and my eyes widen. Resizing and absolute comfort are pretty cool but nothing super special. Resizing ensures that they’ll always fit properly and absolute comfort ensures that they’ll always be extremely comfortable to wear. The other enchantments are where things get interesting.
I waste no time in equipping the panties. They look a lot better than the typical boxers that I wear for comfort, and with the comfort and resizing attributes, they feel a lot more comfortable too. But more importantly, my crotch is now much more protected and it’s really reassuring to know that I can’t get my cock or my balls permanently damaged while wearing these panties. It means that I’ll always be able to have sex, no matter how many dangerous fights I get in. The damage resistance 5 enchantment is really cool too, I find myself wishing it affected the entirety of my body, but I shrug it off as being spoilt.
I sit down and take a small break, eating snacks and watching youtube while I do. There’s an argument to be made that I should be grinding as much as I possibly can, in order to get stronger quickly. I can definitely see the merit in it, but I also don’t want to push myself too hard at this point when I don’t need to. I’m already a lot stronger now than I was a few days ago, so I find it a better idea to take small breaks in between running dungeons.
After a half hour of eating and relaxing, I get back up again and look at my monster spawning table. Besides giant spiders (which I’m still avoiding due to squeamishness, but I also know that I’ll have to face them one day because I’m likely to face worse in reality), the only dungeon enemy that I haven’t tested yet is goblins. So, I head outside and open and instant dungeon with goblins selected as my enemy.
More grinding and new enemies
