She invites Hilda to come to her meadow... in a roundabout way

"Why don't you come visit my meadow?" Mahlly asks. "It's so quiet and peaceful there. But... I don't know, you probably wont like it. It's not like the hustle and bustle I'm sure you're used to."

Hilda feels a twinge of guilt at the druid's accusatory words. "I... I like nature!" She objects. The elf's barbs have wounded her pride.

"I don't know," Mahlly says as she suppresses a smile. "I'm sure you would find it boring. Besides, there's no one there to act as your servant."

Hilda stops walking and puts her hands on her hips. "What's that supposed to mean?" She growls.

"Oh nothing, nothing at all..." Mahlly says with a giggle. "It's just that... well..." she bites her lip as she plays up the situation. "I think you're too much of a city girl to appreciate my meadow."

Hilda's scowling now, the steam practically coming out of her ears.

I've really got her going now! The druid thinks.

"It's just that... I think you're too... what's the word? 'Soft' to appreciate the true wild, world."

Soft?! She thinks I'm... SOFT!?

Hilda grits her teeth, and clenches her fist. If it wasn't for her good breeding and excellent etiquette lessons, she would sock this smug elf right in the face.

No. I have to beat her at her own game. She thinks I can't hang with her, I'll prove just how wrong she is, and then I'll rub her face in it.

"Madam..." Hilda says through clinched teeth. "You have impugned my honor."

"Oh... my heavens! I never meant to do that," the elf lies. She's even easier to rile up than the usual fools. The druid thinks. "Please accept my apologies."

"I'm sorry, but I feel that is not enough. I am a knight of the realm, and a member of the noble, courageous, and storied (more than Hilda knows) Brandt family," the haughty noblewoman declares as she puts her hand on her sword's hilt. "There is only one way to resolve this."

"N-now wait a moment..." Mahlly gulps nervously, suddenly afraid of where this is going. "I-I... I'm not actually..."

"I must prove to you that I not only can appreciate nature, but thrive in it, and I demand, demand, that you take me to your meadow so I can prove it!" Hilda says as she dramatically pulls her sword and holds it alight.

The magical blade twinkles in the air, and Mahlly can almost swear she hears dramatic music coming from it.

"So... you want to come hang out at my place?" The elf says nervously.

"Exactly," Hilda says as she sheathes her blade.

Mahlly lets out a sigh of relief. "Uh... ok, sure."

"Then lead on!" Hilda says with renewed zeal. She's going to prove to this stranger she barely knows that she's the best, at everything, no matter what.

Mahlly smiles to herself, some of it out of relief, but some of it because of what she has in mind for this haughty human.
