She does

Charmander manages to easily take out the first Rattata with a tackle but the other two both lower his defenses with tail whip. Amber's strategy remains similar to that of a rookie trainer as she commands Charmander to attack the next wild pokemon rather than lowering their attack with Charmander's growl. Charmander manages to survive the barrage of attacks from the Rattata but is close to being unable to battle. Charmander's next attack takes out another Rattata and narrowly avoids being knocked out by the remaining pokemon.

Charmander looks back at Amber waiting for its next instructions. Amber yells "Come her quick" as she quickly reaches into her bag and pulls out a potion to heal her partner. With its regained health, Charmander easily defeats the final attacker prompting Amber to celebrate her first victory in a battle. She turns to you and gives a thumbs up, "See! I told you I got it!" She brags cheerfully.

You can do nothing but sit there and let her have her moment. While they may not have been the toughest opponents, at least now you know that Amber has at least some awareness when it comes to battling and you won't have to worry about her losing over and over again throughout the journey. You stand up and flatter her, "I haven't seen many pokemon battles but that was definitely one of the most interesting to watch for sure" and you walk over to her she returns Charmander to it's pokeball.

She turns to continue onwards with you and continue to discuss the battle. You think this small step for Amber could be the first in a long line of progress but also can’t help but worry about everything that could go wrong. After walking down the path for a while you and Amber come to see an area cleared of trees just to your right. As you get closer you see that this clearing takes you directly to Viridian city as you see the buildings at the end of the path.

“We’re finally here!” Amber exclaims as she jumps for joy and picks up the pace. She turns back at you, “Hurry up Rory, there’s so much to see up there and I want to find the Pokemon center.”

“Alright, wait for me!” You nod and jog to catch up with her and enter the city as the sun begins to set.

“Now what should we check out first?” Amber asks looking around.
