Chapter 54 by Regin34 Regin34

What's next?

She decided

The meat was a little leathery and too burned, but for Lucy it was the best meal she'd had in weeks.

She ate slowly and carefully, using her knife on the harder parts because she didn't want to get a sick stomach after days of starving. Lucy had read about that in some book, back when she had studied in school... It felt like ages since that scary day when everyone in the country had seemingly overnight decided to make her into a pet girl. She was sure that there had to be someone behind all of it - A person with powerful mind control, magic, or science - there had to be a reason, a cause, something about her that had driven her friends, her family, even strangers to want to do that... That had **** her to retreat into the woods like this, to hide...

Whatever it was, Lucy knew she needed to find out who or what it was. There was no other option for her - She wanted to return to a normal life, without fear for her dignity or personality being erased or being reduced to the life of a domesticated animal. Biting into another piece of meat Lucy couldn't help but sigh bitterly, knowing the life she was living now was already primitive and animalistic - but at least she was wild...

As much as she feared people, Lucy knew she needed answers and somebody to ask questions to. And that meant risking discovery by the police or the military... By anybody... Lucy refused to give up hope that someone out there would treat her like the person she was, but she knew she couldn't trust anyone...

That means I need to capture someone for information.

The need to keep herself capable of resisting was one of the reasons why Lucy had stayed for all these months in the wild. She needed to change her appearance, to train useful abilities in hiding and fighting, and making sure the all her tracks were hidden. She used a stolen mobile phone very rarely, once a week at maximum to get glimpses of information about the 'human world'. She didn't have a lot of chance to recharge the battery so she rationed herself, terrified she could be tracked through the little device, Lucy knew she needed to be careful.

With trembling fingers Lucy pulled out the little phone, took a deep breath, and switched it on. She opened 'her website', the uncomfortable sight of the images of her as a pet filling the screen. When this all started the new posts appeared hour by hour, but in the next week slowed down to once a day. Now, after a few months, the website had gone quiet. Of course there was still a bounty for any information about Lucy's location, but no one could find anything. Lucy felt pain inside when she read the posts written by her family, her parents begging for news, her sister calling her their "lovely pet" and completely forgoing any idea of her as person. She knew that it would happen, but still it was hard to accept the fact that the whole world was against her. That meant she didn't have anyone she could trust. But she noticed that the website was created on the same day when all of this shit started. No matter how Lucy looked at it the conclusion was the same: Something must have happen in all their minds, some kind of magic or hypnosis.

She looked at information about the area local to where she had set up her camp - it was quiet and remote but not far from her were some hot springs that were a popular tourist spot – an ideal place for pairs or single travelers. Only a ten kilometer walk from her. The perfect place for a trap...

Lucy turned off her phone and started preparing her camp for leaving. When she was ready she checked and double checked her meager belongings before setting off cross-country towards the place where she hoped to catch somebody.

Avoiding the trails, the journey took her two days. And though on her arrival the hot springs looked inviting, Lucy knew she didn't have time to risk enjoying them. Luckily there were enough bushes and trees in the area to make a comfortable hideout, and after a few hours of preparation it was finished. A small blanket, to keep her off of the ground and a few branches made her hideout near impossible to notice. It had worked on deer and rabbits, so hopefully it would work on humans too.

Now Lucy knew all she could do was wait and watch for an opportunity. She had time, the meat from the doe had given her plenty of energy and Lucy settled down, patiently waiting for the right moment to strike...

Who will be Lucy 'prey'?
