Best not postpone this any longer. "Lord Dietrich, you have candidates for me to choose from and marry, correct? Well then, let's not waste time and get on with it. Who do you have for me?"

"Sire," he begins, "a number of eligible ladies have been selected from lands near and far. Each choice will bring its own advantages and disadvantages to the realm, so choose wisely."

Dietrich brings out a scroll, covered over in writing. "First, we have Duchess Eliza. She is a woman of 24 years, and has recently inherited her family lands, having no legitimate siblings. A bit older than the average maiden, but her lands are very wealthy, and conveniently also part of the Confederation. The problem is, everyone sees the value in this match, so you will not be lacking in competition."

"Closer to home, Duke Renard's eldest daughter Camilla is ready for marriage." You hum at the familiar name, "Duke Renard, he was one of my father's most powerful vassals, was he not?"

Dietrich's eyes widen briefly. "Someone has been taught about certain men by the monks." Your most loyal lord is further impressed, "Indeed he is, Sire. Duke Renard was one of your father's most powerful subjects. With his ****, the Duke is now one of YOUR most powerful vassals."

"One of Elector Jan's daughters, Sonya, is ready for marriage. An alliance with him would be an excellent first step towards Ostgrenze leading the Confederation. The old man is a bit stubborn though, and marriage with a later daughter may not guarantee his vote."

"The final choice from this preliminary list is a bit of a diamond in the rough. Lady Helga is the concubinical child of King Rorik, from one of the Northern Kingdoms, the Kingdom of Daynland . Following the old man's ****, his realm has descended into civil war between his heirs as you may already know. A marriage to this lady could allow you to press her claim, if you're into that kind of power politicking. She is also said to have inherited her mother's beauty, if that is any inducement." Lord Dietrich rolled up the scroll and placed his hands behind his back.

He looks at you expectantly. "I know it's a big choice. Take your time and tell me which lady you want to pursue first."
