Robbie's Not Gay

"Uh, good morning," you say, entering the kitchen.

Robbie turns and looks at you for a moment, saying "Hey," before continuing to make himself some coffee. So far, your roommate doesn't seem all that different.

You take a seat at the kitchen table, then ask him if he could get you some coffee too. He shrugs, saying "Sure."

A short time later, both of you are sitting at the table, drinking your coffees in silence. Okay, this is awkward.

"Uh, Robbie?" you ask.

"Yeah?"

"I want to ask you something and I want a real answer." It's really bothering you that you don't know if your roommate has changed like everyone else. Frankly, the idea of Robbie being gay ... you just don't want to think about it. But nothing about him right now screams "I'm gay", so maybe he's just as straight as usual. But looks can be deceiving. "Are you gay?"

"What? You know I'm not."

What a relief. That's definitely the answer that you want to hear. But then Robbie continues ...
