Reminder

As soon as the doorbell rang, Dani hurried to the door, leaving Spencer to continue preparing lunch. Dani found her former colleague with her fiancee waiting and led them inside. Upon seeing Spencer, Janice waved.

"Hey." Spencer said.

"Spencer, right?" Janice replied.

"Yeah. We met at the surprise party."

"That's right. Well, this is my partner Donovan."

"Hello." Janice's partner waved to Spencer.

"Hey there."

"C'mon, let's sit down." Dani interjected.

The three sit at her table as Janice said "You've got him well trained."

With a smile, Dani replied "Well I gotta enjoy the retired life."

"True, I guess. So how's it going?"

"Pretty well so far, I'd say."

"Well, we all miss you."

"Awww. Thanks. So, how's the wedding going?"

"Uhh, getting there." Janice said.

"Well we've got more pressing matters anyway." Donovan stated, to which Dani cocked her head.

"Should we tell her?" Janice asked.

"Why not?"

"Well you have to tell me now." Dani said.

"I'm pregnant."

Dani's jaw dropped. "Oh my God. Congratulations."

The couple smiled in response before Janice said "So that's why we've been looking for a new place."

"Oh absolutely. That's brilliant."

That's when Spencer arrived with lunch. After the meal, Dani showed the two around her house. As much as she was happy for Janice and Donovan, in a way it stung. It may have been a few years since she'd been at their point in life, but it came running back to her mind. Only a few years ago, she had been just like Janice: Ready to start a new life in the house she's in with her fiancee, eager to start a family.
