Reading on CHYOA

CHYOA stories grow as branching paths. At the end of a chapter, the author may offer one continuation, several choices, or no further chapter yet. Choose a continuation to follow that branch, or use the Story Map to explore another part of the story.

The pages in this section cover the main reader tasks:

1. Finding Stories explains the Discover page, Browse menu, categories, feature listings, and the News Feed.
2. Searching and Filtering Stories explains search terms, result types, filters, tags, and sorting.
3. Reading and Navigating Stories explains story information, chapter choices, Back, Start Over, and the Story Map.
4. Likes, Comments, and Constructive Feedback explains chapter likes, discussions, replies, and useful feedback.
5. Your Library, Following, and Notifications explains favorites, bookmarks, followed authors, and update controls.
6. Playing a Game Story explains Game Mode, game state, inventory, interactive buttons, and saved progress.

Customizable stories and Game Mode stories

These labels describe two different kinds of interaction:

• A Customizable story lets you choose reader details such as a name or pronouns. Open Customize on the story page to change the values the story uses.
• A Game Mode story remembers progress such as items, statistics, or earlier decisions. Choose Start Game to make its conditions and state changes active.

A story may use either feature or both.

Reading with or without an account

You can read most visible stories and make ordinary chapter choices while signed out. You can also try reader customization and Game Mode during your current visit.

Sign in when you want to keep account-based features such as favorites, bookmarks, comments, likes, followed authors, notifications, Story Map reading markers, or game progress connected to your account.
