Code of Conduct

Purpose

CHYOA is intended to be a civilized place where users can freely explore and share ideas, enjoy fictional stories, and connect with each other in a welcoming environment. It aims to provide a platform for authors to share and express their ideas without being judged, to learn or improve writing or language skills, and to get help and support from other users in the form of suggestions, feedback, and motivation.

Scope

We expect all CHYOA community members — authors, readers, staff members, moderators, administrators, and any other users of the services — to uphold the principles of this Code of Conduct.
It applies to all communications in messages, comments, review messages, and on the CHYOA Forum.

As CHYOA wants to provide authors the greatest possible freedom to explore their ideas within fictional stories, this Code of Conduct does not apply to story content published in the form of stories and chapters. Instead, story content is subject to the CHYOA Rules.

Standards

1. Respect the personal boundaries of others
Users have different expectations while being on CHYOA. Some might be here to read and enjoy stories. Others might want to meet new people, make friends, explore and discuss ideas, or receive writing-related feedback. Every user is free to choose their maximum level of involvement. Respect the privacy of the user you want to interact with and allow them to remain in their comfort zone if your expectations don't match theirs.

Note that:

As the personal boundaries of a user might not be obvious in the beginning, perceived/expected boundaries should only be approached in a sufficiently slow manner, and only if there are no signs that the user doesn't approve of it.

Users have a right to spend their time on CHYOA in a safe, secure environment. Illegal actions and activities might harm CHYOA users, other people and groups, as well as CHYOA itself. Do your part to keep the site free from such activities and ensure all users are safe on CHYOA.
