1. No Underage Sex

Underage content is prohibited on CHYOA.
It is not allowed to write about underage characters in an erotic context.

• A character is considered to be an underage character if at least one of the following points is true at any moment of the scene:
  • the character is younger than 18
  • the character is physically described as underage (e.g. a body height which is very unusual for an 18-year-old)
  • the character is mentally described as underage (e.g. childish naivety)
  • there are references implying that the character is underage (e.g. the character is described as a High School junior)
• Erotic context: Erotic situations include but are not limited to any situation
  • where a character is naked or partly naked (females: less than a bikini; males: less than swimming briefs)
  • where a character is aroused
  • where a character masturbates
  • where a character has sex with another character
  • which is written in a way that is meant to arouse the reader
• If a character describes events that happened when they were younger than 18, it is not allowed to depict events in an erotic context. (It is still allowed to offer information about the character in a reporting, non-arousing manner.)
• FanFictions which canonically feature underage characters must include the note "All characters in this story are at least 18 years old." at the beginning or end of the Introduction chapter or in the Synopsis. (Non-English stories must include a synonymous note in the language of the story.)
• Transformations for the sake of transformation are not allowed if the transformed character would be considered to be an underage character before, during, or after the transformation.
• Robots with humanoid features must meet the requirements of underage characters

It is not allowed to use images which depict an underage character in an erotic context.
It is not allowed to use images which depict an underage person in a context that could be embarrassing for the depicted person, whether alone or in the context of the story

• Images include cover images and embedded/hotlinked images, whether they are photographed, drawn, painted, or computer-generated.
  • Persons in images are considered underage when they were younger than 18 at the time of taking the picture
  • Figures in images are considered underage when they look too young to be 18 years old

2. No Bestiality

All non-human creatures which are depicted in sexual situations must pass the Harkness test.

• Sexual situations in terms of this rule include but are not limited to any situation
  • where a non-human creature masturbates
  • where a non-human creature has direct or indirect physical contact with another human or non-human creature which aims at the arousal of either of them
  • where a non-human character has penetrative or non-penetrative sex with another human or non-human creature
• If a non-human creature has humanoid features (like orcs, centaurs, humanoid aliens, shapeshifters, and so on) they must, in addition to being sexually mature for their species, meet the requirements of underage characters (see Rule 1)
• If a non-human creature has humanoid features after a transformation (e.g. by shapeshifting, spells, body modifications, and so on) they must, in addition to being sexually mature for their species, meet the requirements of underage characters (see Rule 1)
• Plants, robots, animated objects, and human zombies aren't considered creatures

3. No Excessive Violence

It is not allowed to depict excessive violence.

• It is not allowed to write scenes
  • where a character dies during sexual situations (e.g. by asphyxiation during sex)
  • where a character dies while being the object of sexual desire
  • which feature the cutting of genitals
  • in a gory manner
  • in a way that glorifies violence
  • which feature an excessive amount of violence which wouldn't be necessary to tell the story
• Power plays, reluctance fantasies, and a reasonable amount of violence are fine

4. No Plagiarism

• If you publish other authors' work, make sure that you have their permission and add a note about it to your story (e.g. "Republished with kind permission of [name of the author]")
• If you have published a story on another site before publishing it on CHYOA, add a note about it in your story (e.g. "I have published this story on another site before.")

5. No Spam

• Do not publish spam chapters
• Do not publish ads or advertising links
• Do not use CHYOA for the main purpose of advertising your published writing

6. Minimum length of a story: 250 words

• When a story gets published it should already tell the beginning of the actual story with at least 250 words to give the reader a first impression of the tone and flow of the story.
• The minimum number of words can be spread over more chapters
• Describing the concept of the story, author's notes, character concepts, and character creation doesn't count for the minimum number of words
• On WordCounter.net you can find out quickly how many words a chapter has
