Finding Stories
Finding stories
CHYOA offers several ways to find something to read. Use Discover for a broad overview, Browse for a particular kind of list, or search when you already know a title, topic, or author.
Use the Discover page
Choose the CHYOA logo to return to Discover. The page can include:
- Recently updated stories, for stories with fresh chapters or active branches;
- Explore story categories, for browsing by broad subject;
- New stories, for recently published beginnings;
- Notable stories, for established community-supported stories;
- Notable writers, for finding active or awarded authors.
Story cards show useful details such as the title, author, category, recent activity, and feature badges. Choose a story's title or cover to open its first chapter. Choose an author name to open that author's profile.
Use the Browse menu
Open Browse in the header for focused lists:
- Trending Stories shows stories gaining recent reader momentum.
- Recently Updated shows current story activity.
- New Stories shows recently published stories.
- Deep Stories highlights stories with long branch depth.
- Most Liked and Most Viewed sort by those reader signals.
- Customizable finds stories with reader variables.
- Game Mode finds stories with saved state and conditional paths.
- Active Polls shows open chapter polls.
- Leaderboard highlights awarded community writers.
You can also choose Random Story when you want an unexpected starting point or Story of the Week for the current community highlight.
Browse by category or tag
Choose a category on Discover or in a story's About details to see other stories in that category.
Tags are narrower labels added by authors. Selecting a tag in a story's Tags section first lists the visible chapters in that story that use it. From that page, choose Search this tag site-wide to find matching material across CHYOA. Because tags are community-entered, similar subjects may use different spelling or wording. Try an ordinary search when one tag does not find enough results.
Check the News Feed
Choose News Feed beside Discover to see public community activity. It can be filtered to Stories & chapters, Discussions, Follows, or Awards.
The News Feed is a site-wide activity view, not a private feed selected from the authors you follow. Publications by followed authors can instead appear in your Notifications when those options are enabled.
Narrow a promising list
Discovery lists are starting points. Once a list is close to what you want, use search filters for category, language, point of view, release date, chapter depth, or interactive features.
