KT's family was not very rich and now that he graduated high school finding a college he could attend was going to be a problem.
Tuition had recently skyrocketed and he discovered that due to some administrative misfiling he wouldn't be eligible for students loans. And not very rich wasn't poor enough to benefit from some government assistance. His sister Emily who had always been a good student His options were now to find something that he could get for very cheap while working on the side, get a scholarship that he would qualify for or hope for some sort of miracle.
