land on the soft moss of the forest floor

She looked around and took in the whiff. The forest smelled delicious. Very different then forests in her world - it had a rich texture, like there was less rotting wood. Trees were also much shorter then she was used to. Still it felt quite nice. She kept hearing some noise - low frequency hum coming from afar. Was there a river nearby?

As she got up she noticed the path few meters away and decided to go in that direction. The road she saw - and was now walking on now was a bit unusual. Mostly straight, more then 3 meters wide and hardened with gravel, trees were removed on both sides of it - and yet - it was completely unused. Besides her, there was no-one in sight, how could a major road like this be so empty? Did something happen?

She finally decided to start following the road in one of the directions.
