Chapter 49 by Almax Almax

What do you decide to do?

Shoot the injured one!

Cameron's got his monster handled, it's more important to deal with the one out in the open, even if it isn't fully recovered just yet! Wasting no time, you take one step back just to plant your foot firmly, at the same time raising your shootin' arm level to the injured monster's head and squeezing the trigger.

BANG!

The monster tried to duck and lunge for you at the last second, but you were fast enough to adjust your aim and fire accordingly before anything could come of it -- your last explosive bullet flies from its chamber-barrel, catching the simulated monster right in its snout and expanding into a big cloud of smoke.

The monster slumps over onto the ground, skidding forward a small distance before stopping at your feet. You stand still, watching and waiting in anticipation for the smoke cloud which followed the monster to dissipate.

When it does, you see the simulation monster lying completely still, with a big crater in the front of its head that now that you're seeing the inside bits kind of looks like a styrofoam-esque material, that same orange goop that you're still pretty sure is supposed to look like blood seeping out of the wound. Wait, does that mean you did it? You totally did! You did it! You've just beaten your very first monster, on your very first try!

You let yourself have a mini-celebration before the sound of a heavy bladed-shield-punch to your left snaps you back to the real world (a world which you are still equally proud of yourself in). Right, there's fighting still happening! Your classmates might need your help!

Cameron's still trading hits with the monster, with most of the scythe attacks being deflected by his shields and most of his shield punches landing on the monster's armoured chitin. He's still winning, because of the power behind his hits, but not being able to use his blades properly might mean that it takes a white (during which the monster might snatch the upper hand!)

Jace, in the hut way back behind you, is peeking out through the window with his crossbow pointed towards you, Cameron, and Cameron's monster, waiting for a chance to shoot. You think that the monster is the target, so you wave to be polite, but you're gonna be so mad if you're the target.

Delilah's still fighting the one she's been engaged with this whole time up on the bridge in front of you. Neither side's really landed any big hits yet, since most of Delilah's sickle attacks just hit the monster's chitin totally harmlessly and most of the monster's scythe attacks are getting dodged by Delilah in a totally over-the-top and showboaty way, and the rest of both sides just get blocked.

You quickly reload your pistol to five shots again, with normal bullets this time, and look between your classmates to decide where you're most needed at the moment.

What's the play?

More fun
