Mia’s 4th letter

Four months into our separation, I received Mia’s 4th letter. Past halfway. Just two more months now and I will once again be together with my girlfriend.

Hi, Darx.

I have been spending a lot of time in the city this month. It is not like my encounter with those bandits has made me afraid of being an adventurer. I simply had a talk with my guild master and he suggested I do some training in our guild’s arena.

So, for a whole month, I stayed in the capital and trained against my other guild members. I don’t remember if I already told you that my guild has a large diversity of members, but last month I got an extra taste of that.

There are so many of us who use different weapons. There’s this guy with a mace, some girl with a spear, there’s even an elven archer who uses alchemy to empower his arrows. And when I come across an opponent who has a similar weapon, he uses a completely different technique with it. I am learning so many counter techniques right now. It is completely unlike any training Jax has ever given.

Because of all this training I have new been able to develop a skill of my own. It is called dual strike. Basically, I can move my sword so fast now that I can strike twice at the same time. It is really useful. Then there is also the magic.

Some of the fire mages in my guild have given me some good advice for spellcasting and mana conservation. For the moment, my favorite spell is to place a glyph on the ground and then trick an opponent the walk over it. It is a rather cheap spell so it is easy to cast. And when they break the glyph, it covers his feet in fire. I feel so much more dangerous now.

Looks like the guild she is in really looks after her. Almost like a family away from home. It makes me feel comforted that Mia is surrounded by so many wonderful people. If her guild is this good to her, I have a feeling it’ll be quite a wonderful place for me to be in as well.
