You Explain Everything

“Tina,” you say softly. “Tell me everything,” she says sternly. You breathe in slowly, and let out a deep breath.

“I was curious about taking X-Change, so I got one from a coworker. After you and Mark left, I took it, but he came back and he found me,” you begin. “Then we, had some fun,” you say, glancing at your son. “The same thing happened yesterday. Then today, one of his friends came and now we’re here. I wasn’t going to go anywhere. I just wanted to see what it was like to be a woman.”

Tina doesn’t bother to look at you. She sits silently, looking at the floor. “You should’ve talked to me about this,” she says. “I knew you hated X-Change,” you begin. “So you thought it was a good idea to take it and then have ‘fun’ with OUR son,” she says, now staring daggers at you. “Mom, please,” Mark says, attempting to calm her down. “Don’t try to calm me down you little shit,” she says, lifting herself off of her chair.

“Tina please, I still love you,” you say, holding back tears. She turns her head to look at you and says, “Get out.”
