Two targets: a vampire, Lydins de Geomorte, and an unknown necromancer...

Palas grabbed two pieces from the board in her slender fingers, then placed one in front of Dyna, while still wearing that usual grave frown of hers. "We'll begin with a tall order, but one of grave necessity. A count named Lydins De Geomorte... have you heard of him," she questioned, raising her eyebrow with an inquisitive expression.

The captain of the knights, eager to show she wasn't all play and no footwork, grinned and nodded. "That fancy nobleman who lives up in a manor out by the graveyard, yeah. I know him. He's always inviting girls in to paint their portraits, treats it as his life's work, or so I hear. He's never asked me in, though, so who gives a rat's ass about him! Heh," Dyna joked, tipping over the elegantly cloaked, black-colored figurine that Palas had placed in front of her.

"You've just revealed how little you know. Do the knights not have an information network?" Palas responded with no mirth in her voice. "For starters, those girls he's inviting up... they're being drained of their blood. Lydins is a vampire. You're not being invited in because you're far too strong for a typical vampire glamour to work against you, or else, you're simply too public a figure for that sort of draining," she sighed. "Secondly, you failed to notice the clear inaccuracy in my opening query. Lydins is not a man, but a woman."

"Wuh? But I'm sure-"

"Oh, yes, Lydins fancies herself a dandy, for whatever reason, and dresses like some dashing aristocrat, but that's just her eccentricity at work. What you have there is not a noble thespian of the arts with a boyish interest in pretty girls, but instead, an especially playful vampire lesbian," Palas explained. While Dyna was still deciding how to respond to that information, she set down the second figure: a bald man in a robe, raising a staff high above his head while skeletal hands reached from the ground around him. "Where there is a demon vampire, the necromancer is not far behind. That vampire is beyond your abilities, but the necromancer is a vulnerability. If we can take care of him, then every undead demon under his employ will be of no further consequence."

Dyna shook her head in disbelief. "What, are you gonna tell me he's another noble that lives on church street?" she questioned.

"Of course not. The vampire may like maintaining a public face, but the necromancer cares little for it. Even I have never made contact with him, further than hearing about him from Lydins. Doubtless they are protected by the vampire, the strongest of their minions, and lurk somewhere inside the house," Palas answered.

At this, the captain bristled. "Look, I've heard you say it twice, now, but you may be misunderstanding something. No one is beyond my strength! I'm Dyna Montague, captain of the knights- I'm the strongest person in the entire city of Merridan, among humans, demons, angels, whatever! You really think some vampire is going to be a problem for me?" Dyna scoffed, tilting her head to one side and tapping over the necromancer statue as well.

"I told you, we aren't killing my former allies. It doesn't matter how powerful you are; what I question is not your streangth, but your 'ability.' In this case, I mean your ability to convince that vampire to turn against the demon lord. A vampire is created by a necromancer, who in turn uses dark arts known only by the demon lord's closest agents. To ask these two to turn against him... It will be a very difficult task," Palas murmured. "But a necessary one, unless you want vampires, skeletons, and other undead creeping around in the shadows of your city, carrying out the demon lord's dark orders."

"Alright, alright! You've successfully given me the heebie-jeebies," the imp shuddered; even as a former servant of the demon lord, she'd never gotten used to the living dead. "So I take it you've got some plan to win over Lydins and her necromancer? And are you friends with that vampire? You make it sound like you've talked."

"We have spoken, in the course of my work. I wouldn't call us friends. She's propositioned me to pose for a portrait a time or two as well, but I've never accepted. I am... was... a very private person," Palas replied, crossing her arms beneath her chest. "But of course I have a plan... one that will expose the necromancer for us. I sense I can't leave the scheming part up to you."

The other lady stuck out her tongue, then crossed both hands behind her head, leaning harder against her chair as she propped her feet back up. Still, privately, she was pretty interested to hear what the crafty former spy had cooked up...
