Chapter 19 by Gatsha Gatsha

Will Ralli accept this request?

Yes, but she is uneasy.

"Don't think I believe you for a second," Ralli growled, stooping to face Liam closely. She had no eyes to glare at him through her visor, but her intimidating aura grew even more intense. "I don't know what that is. However, I know you are trying to trick me. I know you have some plan. I am not as dumb as you think, trainee."

"Aaaw, c'mon, Teach!" Liam said sheepishly, although he held his overly friendly smile. "Don't be like that! You're stronger and smarter than me, so you'll be fine no matter what? That's why you're the teacher! This is all about student morale, remember? Do it for the knights! Say you'll gladly accept."

"I will accept. There is no gladness in it," Ralli finally acquiesced. Stooped as she was, Liam wasted no time fitting the choker on her. Even though it was elastic, it had a small, discrete clasp under the symbol, as it didn't stretch wide enough to fit over the head. The sergeant noticed he fastened it quickly, as though with practice... and, she thought, a bit desperately, as though she could change her mind at any minute.

She sighed, standing back upright. From that angle, it almost disappeared between the metal of her helmet and chest plate collar. If it wasn't such a shocking shade of pink in contrast to the rest of her outfit, it probably wouldn't be noticeable. However, it was. "This looks ridiculous," Ralli pointed out. "Also, the clasp appears to be designed to be easily removed only by a second party. I do not believe the wearer can easily remove it."

"Now, now, don't be sore," Liam chided her, grinning widely. "There's no magic to it or anything. If you decide you really hate it, just fiddle with it and you'll eventually get it off. All right? Well, I'm gonna go let the others know what I wished for. Unless you want to let them gawk at it, I suggest you hurry on out of here, Teach."

"... Very well. I'm putting you in charge here. Make sure everything gets put up," she growled at him, then stalked off, helpless to avoid pulling at the choker. It was surprisingly comfortable... but that somehow made her even more nervous.

"Putting me in charge, huh? Sounds good, Teach..." Liam said, watching her go through the thin slits of his apparently beaming eyes. "Sounds very good..."

Ralli couldn't show her weakness in front of her students, but as she turned the corner, she let out a heavy sigh. "I am completely exhausted. I doubt I have ever run that hard, even in my past life. What I need now is..."

What does Ralli need?
