Chapter 16 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

How well did you end out?

Keiko defeated Buchikowasu at T3

You returned to the shared room to find Keiko swinging her sword in practice, occasionally dispersing the bits to fly around like insects. Their movement had become much more natural now, like petals on the wind... it was quite a spectacle to behold. "Katappashikara-dono, welcome. I was just practicing my technique. This new weapon is unlike anything I've ever wielded before..." she spoke modestly, placing the blade down so that you wouldn't get randomly stabbed by some piece of metal as we spoke.

Joking, you pointed out that training with this weapon was a little counterintuitive. After all, the point is supposed to be not to give a shit and let the weapon do it all, remember?

"Hmmm... Fighting that way would take a lot of faith. I'm not sure I'm all the way there yet," she answered honestly, causing your heart to sink a bit. Still, that was a fair shade better than how she felt when the two of you met. You counted that as a victory. "I find myself... conflicted."

You asked her if it was because she had to stamp Buchikowasu at the end.

"That's part of it. I wonder if my quest isn't simply pulling me further into the evil of the Kami Kurobe," she sighed, glancing at the sword again. "Working with a god to overthrow all gods is... a bit strange. Besides that, it also has me questioning the relationship between gods and priestesses. I've always seen gods as evil, you understand, so I can't imagine one supporting me as effectively as you have, given my intentions to rip away all the power you hold."

Speaking frankly, you told her that it was only because of her that you had anything to rip away... Really, every bit of power you've ever demonstrated you began demonstrating here at this tournament. Before you came here with her, your only goal in life was to find the most comfortable resting spot while lying in your clouds. Now... You felt like you had something to work towards.

Finally, Keiko gave you a rare smile, brushing her loose hair away from her cheek. You were struck for a moment by the serene beauty of that smile. "Then prove me wrong about at least one god. Show me that a god can be a **** of good, even if that good is ridding all realms of the rule of gods," she finished... then gave you a bow, a rare showing of respect that you hadn't seen up to this point. Ironically, this priestess who had sworn to annihilate all priestesses... now looked like a proper priestess.

((Power +1))

((Faith +4))
