Ages of Autumn

Soon, the second wave begins...

This is the central hub for a collection of one-shots and branches set in a single fictional world, Autumn. These tales can be read in effectively any order, and require no introduction. If you want to leap right in, go ahead.

Our world gave us life, and we called her Autumn.

In this realm of stunning beauty, there are five women for every man, which has shaped all Autumnal culture and history.

How is it even possible? Well, men do their part and take multiple wives as a rule, obviously. Most girls (pistils) endeavor all their lives to form harems around the few males (archers). They can't do it alone, though - some of the surplus women endemic to Autumn are claimed by women with dicks (stamen) or even in the rarest cases men without them (bowmen). And then there's the Nine Alpha Types born with exceptional power and charisma.

Conquerors, Juggernauts, and Guardians.

Breeders, Wanderers, and Settlers.

Their supernatural powers keep our world going and her population rising steadily through their tireless efforts. For which the women of Autumn, overwhelmingly submissive and lonely, are usually just as overwhelmingly eager and grateful. Anyone can be born an alpha, it's not inherited, so rumors from star-struck girls that alphas are 'descended from the gods' are not to be taken seriously.

In the beginning, the world was dark and full of monsters, and all races lived together in great holy cities. After casting out their gods for the sake of our freedom, we mortals focused on our differences, breaking apart, settling the world, and competing for resources. Yet every Tribe is humanoid, and strikingly similar.

Mutually compatible? Oh yes, very much so.

The revelation in later ages that we are not alone in the universe, and that even alien worlds have also manifested cute girls compatible with us in every sense, only fuels suspicion that this is some kind of grand design... or an endless cycle.

Shorter-lived races such as humanity experience each second of their Flicker lives more vividly, and dare to invent and explore. Elder races conversely rise to leadership in Autumnal society. Their longer lifespans allow for vast knowledge and skills unmatched, and fearful power. They live through so much of history, and keep it alive, but that can weigh like a nightmare over the living. Our differences have always driven conflict.

How is that resolved? Well, there's seven continents on Autumn, though two are the polar ice caps of Zenith in the north, and Nadir in the south. Life is concentrated in the five middle continents, each a vast world unto itself centered largely around a central theme...

Stories and branches will be added as I feel like making them, sky's the limit with a format like this.
