Ancient History: Classical Antiquity. The Greco-Roman World.

The choice was clear to you, the vision already pristine and unblemished in your mind's eye. Out of all of the Eras in History you've studied over the years, your favorite by far was that of the Ancient Greeks and Romans, and all of the rival factions that shared with them the known world. Here you could rule undisputed as a King, Emperor, or Demi-God, and lead any faction on the path of greatness. Maybe you would even forge your own Civilization and bring all others to heel? Even with this little slice of history, though the term "little" was entirely subjective, you still had a vast range of alternative starts to your adventure. But Rome wasn't built in a day. So too would this ring true for your new story. At any rate, you made sure to arrive in the proper time period first and foremost.

You arrive beneath the golden rays of the midday sun, and you can immediately feel a difference between this world and the one you just left. It felt raw, unspoiled, and mythical to your spirit. The air was crisp and pristine to your lungs, filling you with an energy you've never experienced before in your young life. A wave of incredible elation fills you to the brim, and you can't help but throw your head back and laugh joyously, your arms outstretched to absorb every bit of warm sun you could possibly catch. You then fall backwards into the tall, soft grasses of the earth and breathe in deeply its scent. Easily your best idea ever. Now, onto business. Every story has a beginning, and you had numerous different cultures to pick from just waiting for you.

• Rome: Rome shall rule the world. It is her destiny, as it always has been. One of the greatest civilizations of all time, Rome at the height of her power held dominion over roughly 1/3 of the world's total population. Her reach stretched far and wide, and her grip unyielding upon all conquered peoples. This incredibly vast territory coupled with infighting, wanton consumption, disease, and birth decline would eventually lead to her downfall. But with you at the helm, she could become an Empire that would last for many more millennia to come.
• Greece: Hellenic pride and influence thrived and dominated much of the Mediterranean before the rise of Latin Rome. Alexander of Macedon built a vast but short-lived Empire that stretched as far as India. The witty philosophers of Athens laid down the foundations for modern Republics and Democracies. Sparta would forever be immortalized for birthing some of the greatest warriors of all time. While historically none of these nations would ever dominate as extensively as Rome or Persia, some personal intervention on your part could lead any of them onto the path of glory.
• Iceni: one of several tribes of Ancient Britain, the Iceni largely managed to maintain independence from Roman rule over the course of the Empire, but they too would eventually be assimilated following a failed revolt led by Queen Boudica in 60 A.D. Perhaps you would lead them to victory instead?
• Suebi: one of many Germanic tribes that would forever resist Roman subjugation. Fearless warriors entirely at home in dark forests with Pagan gods, Pagan ways, and an unquenchable thirst for battle, these "barbarians" would jump at the chance to overrun the lordly Romans if you bring them under your thrall.
• Egypt: the oldest civilization in the world. Even as other nations fell, Egypt remained rich, prosperous, and influential. Rome never came to conquer Egypt like it had with lesser neighbors. It was simply too valuable of an asset. Every year, the Nile would swell and flood its banks with water to renew the farmlands, farmlands that would feed an Empire. Your Empire.
• Persia: who wouldn't want to rule the Cradle of Civilization itself? Persian kings of old tried many times and failed to expand west into Greece. Some campaigns came close, but none were successful. Alexander's campaign eventually brought this mighty Empire to heel, but his untimely **** left behind a power vacuum to be filled by his unworthy generals. You on the otherhand could easily fill that vacuum.
• That was just a handful of existing nations and cultures you could command as your own, and be either loved or feared by their peoples. You could even build your own kingdom to rival all others. A true Godking that would make Xerxes of Persia green with envy. In your old timeline, the fabled kingdom of Themiscyra was simply that, a fable and myth, and while there are scant records of a tribe of warrior-women in the Black Sea region ruled by Pontus, no such archaeological evidence had been found. That could easily be changed.

Of course, there was no need to adhere yourself to any singular culture or people. You were a God. You could freely explore them all at your leisure and bring truth to all of the famous myths and legends they told. Would you make yourself a man-made legend? Would you rule the Pantheon of Olympus in Zeus' stead? Would you become Dominus of your own school for Gladiators and Gladiatrices?
