Nothing!

The room is entirely empty!

"I... but... w-where's my stuff?!" Tina whines.

Morgala sighs.

"I-I don't understand! Daddy told me to look in the sparring room for a surprise. He even said 'it will serve you well on your quest.' Why would he say that and not leave anything?!" Tina asks dumbfounded.

"Can... can I go now?" Morgala quietly asks. She still needs to get packed for her own vacation. The stagecoach that's taking her to the coast is supposed to arrive later this morning.

"Fine," Tina says, not really listening to her nanny as she brings a hand to her chin and ponders this conunundrum. "It... it must be a test..."

Morgala quietly slips out of the room as Tina gets herself worked up.

"Of course!" Tina snaps her fingers, which thanks to years of training results in Morgala instantly returning without even thinking (which makes the grumpy, frumpy maid blush at her own silliness). "This is part of the test!"

"Test, mistress?" Morgala asks.

"Daddy and mama want to see if I really have what it takes to be a knight. Giving me fancy armor and a big, sharp sword would be practically cheating. Don't you see?" Tina says.

"Um... not... really," Morgala says.

"A knight has to rely on their own wits and cunning to win the day," Tina says, happy for a chance to smugly show how superior she is to her obviously dim-witted servant. "Daddy and mama are showing how much they believe in me by not giving me stuff. I don't need fancy things to complete my quest, because I'm obviously so good!"

Morgala just looks blankly at her ward. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. She thinks.

"Although they better gimme some pretty, pretty armor when this is over," Tina adds as she strikes a pose and looks at herself in the mirror. "Something that really brings out the color of my eyes..."

"I... see..." Morgala says.

Tina just turns around to look at the elf and then condescendingly pats her on her head. "I am off to earn my destiny, Morgie. When you see me again, it will be as a woman worthy of my true status."

Morgala just stands there as Tina leaves the room and walks right out the front door of the keep, with no armor, no weapon, and nothing but a smile and her simple (well, elaborate and expensive, really) clothing to keep her safe on her dangerous journey.

"I need to get packed," the exhausted elf says as she heads back to her own cramped room.

Meanwhile, in her parents' closet, a brand new set of bejeweled full plate armor and a fancy, finely crafted sword sit unattended. Both have giant red bows tied to them and a note that says:

To our wonderful daughter. Good luck on the quest pumpkin!
