Chapter 3 by holahola202 holahola202

What will you do next?

Chase after her

You think about heading to your class, but then consider the fact that your life at school hasn't exactly been amazing so far. The students and faculty seem to actively dislike you, and you already know almost all of the material you cover anyways. Ultimately, you mostly just spend your time hiding in a corner in the class and then doing the same in library, and it's been really dragging you down. You sigh and lean on your car, watching as the jogger starts to cross the street, and think about whether you should use this power for yourself like you want to.

You allow some of your moral system to shift and make a decision by the time she's made it to the other side of the street. You hop in your car to drive after her and pull up to the curb in front of where she's running, then roll down your window in preparation.

As she nears, you yell out, "Hey, I didn't get your name!"

She stops running on the sidewalk next to your car and says, "It's Taylor, but don't get any ideas. I don't know why I played along with you back there, but it was very much a one time thing. Sorry, but I'm going to get back to my run." She looks as though she's about to leave, but then she looks back at you and says, "Yeah, again, I'm sorry about that, but have a good day."

Her response intrigues you a little, but you feel a jerk in your chest as you see her start to take a step away. In response, you quickly yell out, "One more: would you rather let me drive you to wherever you're going or walk with me there?" You kick yourself for a moment and start to panic, worried that nothing will happen.

She stops and says, "I'd rather drive home," then gets onto your passenger seat. You look at her in shock for a second, and steal another glance at her. Her face contorts in confusion, and she says, "Wait, I didn't want to do this. What the fuck is going on?" Her choice seems to compel her onward, however, as she continues by saying, "But my house is about 10 minutes away and I can direct you there I guess."

She remains puzzled and concerned, and you panic even as you start to wonder if more out of character or strange choices will be more likely to be fully noticed. You realize you need to decide quickly whether you want to continue with her, and if you do whether or not you should try to keep her in the dark about your ability to make changes. You look into her eyes and make a choice.

What's your choice?
