A Vampire's Manifesto

Jessica, Elizabeth and Diana sit around a table in a fancy restaurant. They are joined by a hybrid, Senator Kay Dickinson of Delaware. (The senator had been kidnapped and turned into a hybrid by Diana and Jessica.)

They are the only diners. Strapped to the table is a naked, pregnant human women. Elizabeth is biting into her breast, while Diana sucks from a wound on her inner elbow. Kay, lacking fangs, wears a sharpened piercing tool on her thumb, which she uses to open veins on her prey. The senator is drinking from the girl's leg.

The vampiresses are out celebrating the completion of Jessica's book with Diana, A Vampire's Manifesto. Diana had contributed much of a the scientific material. (For example, chapters like "The Human Carrying Capacity of Earth" and "Vampirism and Natural Selection"). Jessica had written the more propagandistic material. (Her chapters included titles like "The Natural Order", and "Humanity's Squandered Endowment". Her final chapter was titled "Overcoming Humanism" and detailed her own struggles with her guilt after turning, and eventual conversion to Elizabeth's cause.

"The book is a triumph!" Elizabeth exclaims. "It distills our worldview so concisely. It will inspire every new vampire we turn to support the world order that we will build. A vampiric world."

Jessica leans down and bites into the woman's thigh. The three vampiresses drink together, euphoric. Elizabeth is right, pregnant blood is a delicacy Jessica thinks. The pregnant woman's lolls from side to side, eyelids fluttering, as she is drained by the thirsty vampiresses.

The hostess of the restaurant comes over with a waitress. "Mistresses, would you like another from our selection?" the hostess asks.

Diana scans the menu. "The Filipina. 27 years old. It says she's been on a diet of fruit and nuts?"

"Yes, mistress" says the hostess.

"I'll think we'll take her then, thank you" Diana says matter of factly, as if she were ordering a salad.

"Excellent choice, madame" the waitress says. The wait staff unstraps the pregnant woman's body from the table and drag it away.

Elizabeth had explained to Jessica that she owned the restaurant, and enjoyed relaxed dining here sometimes when she went into the city. The owners and staff were enthralled and kept a selection of humans in the basement for their pleasure. During most days it functioned as a normal restaurant, except when Elizabeth called in to say that she'd be dropping by.

The vampiresses discussed more of Elizabeth's plan. Elizabeth explained how she had been slowly seeding new vampire households across the country, each responsible for infiltrating law enforcement, the military and government in their region. The night when the vampires would make their move and end human dominion was still far away, though. (In the book this was called Night Zero.)

The wait staff drag the struggling Filipina girl to the table. She is gagged.

"Would you like to sample her before we strap her down?" The waiter asks. Elizabeth nods. The waiter produces a knife and cuts a gash in the girl's palm, dripping her blood into a wine glass. The vampiresses each sip from the glass.

"Yes, delicious, please strap her to the table" Elizabeth instructs. The vampires dive into their second course.
