What is that at the center...

"Yasmin," you whisper, "what is that at the center of the village?"

"It looks like it could be the corpse of one of the flying whales we saw earlier," Yasmin, says as she turns to you.

"Could we use that?" You ask her, looking for anything you could use to your advantage.

"On Earth, a whale carcass would fill with explosive gas" she explains "If we could set off an explosive near it-"

"Exactly," you say a smile forming on your face.

"And with it being at the center of the village it would be devastating."

"But what about Rachel," she says, while pointing to your sister. She is near the middle of the camp.

"I will need to get close for the explosive anyway" you explain an idea already forming in your head.

"We will go in together, you grab her, and I'll set off the explosive."

"But it could KILL YO-" she almost yells back, you quickly move to cover her mouth.

"I know, but I have to" You give her a somber look.

Afterward, you look around, looking to see if any of the "grey" apes had noticed.

"Look, we will go in together," you explain.

"Just grab Rachel, and get to the river. If I'm not there within four hours, go on without me." You look deep into her eyes to emphasize the final point.

"Fine," she argues as you move your hand from her mouth.

You reach and lightly grab her by her shoulders, causing her anger to subside for a moment.

"Yasmin, promise me you'll take care of Rachel if I don't make it."

Her expression softens, and she sighs as she resigns to the fact that you are going to have to do it.

"I promise," she says, making herself a bit more rigid.

"Yasmin, I love you," she calmly states.

"I love you too," I answer, pulling into a deep kiss.

You feel Yasmin's warm face press up against yours, and as her soft lips press up against yours, you realize just how nervous you are. The last time you faced a horde of these creatures, you ended up with a broken arm, at that was because you were lucky.

You pull away, looking at Yasmin again; she has a tear flowing down her face.

"Let's go" you order, steeling for what is to come.

Yasmin forces herself to break away and readies her rifle for the plan. While you begin to make an improvised explosive.
