Checking on Zack

Heather crept inside the room she was sharing with Zack. He was laid out on the bed, but she couldn’t quite tell if he was awake or not. After gently closing the door behind her, she placed a glass of water on the nightstand by his head and a bottle of aspirin next to it. Very carefully, she placed her hand on his forehead and checked his temperature. At the contact, Zack wearily opened his eyes and grunted in pain.

“Agghh!”

“Shh! Its okay, Zack,” Heather whispered to her charge.

“Ugh! Heather? Windows. Cover please,” he gasped at her.

“Aww!” Heather sighed as she closed the blinds. “Did you take anything?”

The prostrate boy on the bed shook his head gingerly.

“Well, there’s some aspirin and a glass of water for you. I don’t know how much it’ll help, but it’s better than nothing. Take them and go back to bed,” Heather instructed Zack.

“Thanks,” the unwell teen gasped at his hostess before popping the proffered medication and chasing the pills with a swig of water.

“Rest now. I’ll check on you later before dinner,” the sultry brunette pained.

As Zack closed his eyes, Heather tiptoed out of the room and leaned against the corner of the kitchen counter. A quick glance let her know that her three female friends went back out to the waterfront and rejoined the boys in the lake. This offered her the perfect opportunity to launch Phase Three of her plan. Taking out her phone, she hammered away a short message absent of the typical embellishments teens used.

Zack has a migraine. He’s sleeping right now. He may be out for a few days, but consider Victoria out of the way. He’s all yours. Good luck!!!

After she hit ‘Send’ a devilish grin plastered itself to her face. It grew a mile wide when Heather’s phone lit up with a response of “Okay!!!”

Little did the sender of that short text know that three other phones in the Azure Rocks area received the same message from Heather.
