Someone she didn't expect

“A consolation prize? This isn’t a carnival, Heather. You’re talking about people’s feelings. Your friend’s feelings, for Christ’s Sake! How can you be so nonchalant about this?” shouted Chloe as the four young women walked into the kitchen area to talk away from Zack’s room.

“Shh! Zack is sleeping! He feels bad enough as it is. Don’t wake him!” pleaded Heather.

“So it’s okay to let him sleep, but not choose who his girlfriend is? If Zack and I want to be together, then why can’t we?”

“If you three dingbats would just shut up and let me talk, I can explain!” Heather pointed to each of her friends. The trio was taken aback by their friend’s insult. “Done talking? Good! The reason why Zack can’t ask you out is because someone else is going to. Someone I know for sure is going to make you forget all about dear Zack.”

“Who?” Vicky asked as a tear rolled down her cheek.

“Well, I won’t tell you his name, but you can ask him that when he gets here in a few days. His brother, Shawn, will be dropping him off on Friday,” Heather smiled.

When Victoria heard the name “Shawn”, a light bulb went off in her head immediately and she spoke the name that Heather was alluding to. The one name that in fact would make her forget about Zack Bishop.

“Dustin?” she whispered. “You’re joking, right? How did you find him? And how’d did you get his parents to allow him to come here?”

“I can neither confirm nor deny that Dustin Lewis will be dropped off here at Eight O’clock in the morning on Friday. You’ll just have to ask him all those questions when he gets here! After he asks you to Prom, that is,” Heather smiled as an ecstatic Victoria Walker rushed into her arms and hugged her.

“But what about Zack? Are you really interested in him?” Chloe crossed her arms and looked at the scheming brunette.

“Well, he is cute. Very cute at that. But as much as I think Zack and I would be great together, I just don’t see us lasting. Even though we are going to the same college next year,” Heather shrugged her shoulders.

“So, you just tease him immensely to get him to lose interest in Vicky then drop him like third period French class? If you hurt my best friend, Heather, I swear I’ll hurt you twice as bad!” the fiery redhead spoke with a clenched fist.

“Don’t worry, Chloe. Zack’s not going to get hurt. In fact, there is someone else who wants to be with him and I’m sure that he will be just as happy with her as he would have been with Vicky. In fact, I was just about to text her when I was interrupted by you three,” Heather winked at Chloe before enveloping her in a hug.

“And who would that be?” Ashley asked as Heather searched through some pills in the medicine cabinet.

“That is Phase Three of my plan. And as none of you are that girl, her name is none of your business!” the head cheerleader smirked as she stepped away from her friends to bring Zack some aspirin.
