Natali and the Maid

Following the sound you head down a side hallway and up the servants stairs into the servants quarters area of the house. You see an open door down a narrow hall. You can hear Natali was definitely one of those arguing.

As you enter you see Natali and the maid in what you assume to be the maid's room. As you enter the argument stops as they both look at you.

"Ohhhh Vincent...I mean...Mr Calabrese. I'm so glad you're here!" The maid whines. "She had no right to be in my private room!"

Natali turns to look at you, obviously relieved to see you back in one piece, she holds up a sparkling ruby ring. "Look what I found on the dresser."

"No! She put that there!" The maid protests.

You shake your head. This was not going to go well for the maid at this rate.

Not even dignifying it with a response Natali continues. "I noticed it missing and thought I better check Caitlin's room, and here it is." She glares at the maid who is only looking at you with her wide tearful green eyes. "I also noticed a few more things missing, I bet if we look around here..."

"No!" Caitlin wails. "Don't! This is my room."

Looking at the ring you say. "I pay you plenty Caitlin..." You just assumed this was true, "...why did have to go and do something stupid like this?"

"Nooo Vincent, No...please..." She begs. "Don't send me back...out there. Please Vincent, you know where I came from...where I'd have to go back to..."

Natali seizes on to the moment. With razor sharp words she snaps. "Fired? You're worried about getting fired? You stole from me, which means you stole from him." She thumbs in your direction. "You stole from Vincent Calabrese. You know what that means? We don't fire people. We don't call the cops. We make people fucking disappear!"

You are sure it is a bluff but it has the desired effect on Caitlin. She backs up a step. Her voice wavering she pleads. "N-n-no...Vincent please...Vincent baby..."

You could see Natali was tapping into a long held festering resentment. Finally confronting the woman her husband had been almost openly cheating on her with, a woman living under the same roof. While she had no love for Vincent it had to be humiliating if nothing else. The indignation of it. This was catharsis for Natali and totally justified in your mind. You were going to back Natali where ever she wanted to take this.

She looks at you. "You told her it was over between you?"

"Yeah, this morning." You reply.

"No...no...Vincent...baby!" Caitlin is ****. "We...we made magic together, you and me. When she couldn't do it for you..."

You wince as see the words have their desired effect on your wife.

"I suggest you be quiet now Caitlin." You say gravely. She buttons her lips and stands with her hands crossed in front of her.

Natali fumes as you all stand silently for what seems like an eternity. Then Natali says. "Okay Caitlin...you're going to do exactly what I say."

The maid trembles and nods.
