He Heads to the Inner City

Raven looks towards the vast darkened city behind the school and assumes that there might still be some supplies to scavenge. Raven unlocks the door and slowly steps out looking across the large football field and the walls of the school to make sure that there where no infected in the area. He takes several quiet steps across the grass and takes a long look around finding nothing in the vicinity, smiling with relief he begins his trek across the field and through the woods behind the school that stood in the way.

"This is probably the best way, I could use the dark to cover my approach and use the trees to hide in case there are any infected." He whispered to himself. Raven really needed to stay out of the moonlight, his long black hair practically shines when it reflects light and he didn't need to make his presence known to anything, human or infected.

Raven wandered through the woods looking into the darkened areas, as much as others would have advised against going somewhere so dark the infected seem to be attracted towards light, that must be built in so they can hunt better. But the 'Gangbangers' can just wander through wooded areas like this if they wanted to but not without reason so he was pretty safe.

Raven stared up at the skies through the trees that arched in the air that can give either the impression that the branches were bony eerily fingers that reach out to grab their victims, or can leave one breathless from the natural beauty it can give off. Hell is just a state of mind after all.

All the sudden Raven catches his foot on something and falls on face and immediately spins, his heart beating heavily against his chest as he looks to his foot to find it trapped in a root. He takes a quick look around and listen to see if he had gained any unwanted attention from his fall but nothing more than the natural night responded. Raven sighed with relief and pulled his foot from the root and stood back up brushing himself of the dirt and turned to the buildings towering into the sky and find a single light at the top. Well, that's a stupid thing to do.

Raven wandered to the edge of the forest by the highway and found several infected looking at the building with the light on. Why there is a light is a mystery altogether since the grid was downed. He stared out a the highway and found several groups of infected walking down the highway calm headed towards the light at the top of the apartment complex. Raven looked back at the single lighted room and shook his head. He doesn't have time for idiots.

He quietly left the area and went back into the woods and walked towards the more vacant quiet parts of the dead city, after all less people less infected.

Raven soon exited the woods and stepped in the dark alleyway in between two large buildings. Raven used the darkness to his advantage as he peered onto the deserted street with ruined and run down cars littering the street and the abandoned and run down buildings. Just across from the street stood an old **** store.

"Not exactly what I was looking for but there still might be something." Raven said to himself. He took a quick look around making sure that there were no infected and ran across the street and dashed inside the store. He stopped ready in a fighting position looking around finding no measure of life inside. Sighing with relief he wandered through the large store towards the freezers, of course anything in the freezers wouldn't be edible or usable by now but he wasn't looking for anything like that. What he was looking for was...

"Bingo." He said to himself finding a case of water sitting on one of the trollies left out. He grabbed the small case and wandered through the stores some more finding a bag to carry his things in, a couple of batteries, and a few other things he might need.

He stops by the counter pulling the water from its case and placing them in his bag before he heard small moaning like sigh. Looking up from his bag he saw an infected standing by the entrance and looking around. He quickly ducked behind the counter and held his breath.
