Who do you target next?
It’s smiting time!
Deciding that the paladin was the more immediate threat and so charged, jumping on the paladin’s back.
“Gerroff!”
“Haha! You’re being ridden by a goblin! Keggerstan the Mighty turned into a mule!”
“Shut up!”
As he spun around trying to grab you (A hard proposition with a hammer and shield in his hands), the other two runts continued to whack at him with their sticks, doing little but being annoying. Quickly grabbing a hold, you start stabbing at the gaps near his neck!
Goblin Runt deals 3 piercing damage to Keggerstan, reduced to 2 piercing damage by armor
Goblin Runt deals 2 piercing damage to Keggerstan, reduced to 1 piercing damage by armor
Goblin Runt deals 3 piercing damage to Keggerstan, reduced to 2 piercing damage by armor
Finally he manages to throw you off and you go sprawling to the floor.
“Come here you fucking runt!”
Deciding discretion is the better part of valor, you duck away as the other two runts charge. Deciding to Hide, you duck behind a pillar and start sneaking off to the side. The Fighter had regained his feet and cleaved the runt in two.
What do you do?
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
