Around the cabin

Heather found the key to the storage room in the kitchen and enlisted everyone else’s help, minus Kurt’s, to check the room with her. The five of them, Heather, Ashley, Brandon, Chloe and Gavin marched down the steps that connected the deck to the lake’s path, but instead of going straight they went behind the stairs, where a green wooden door was waiting for them.

“Well,” Heather turned around to look at the rest of the group. “If someone’s afraid of spiders or roaches, better step back a little.”

When she unlocked the door and opened, the first thing she saw in the small room was the red metal grill that they were looking for. Brandon took a step forward, scanning the room.

“Nice, maybe we can go fishing later.” He said as he eyed the three fishing poles resting on a corner and the wooden boat behind the grill.

“I like fishing,” Gavin chimed in. “It’s very relaxing, shame we don’t have any baits to use.”

Brandon grinned. “We can catch a few worms in the woods later.”

“I think it can be cool to use that boat on the lake.” Chloe said, eyeing the thing.

“Riiiight,” Heather took the front again. “Now, who’s going to be the strong gentleman who’ll help me to bring this grill upstairs to the deck?”

“I can carry it.” Brandon offered, grabbing the grill in his hands and taking it to the deck.

Back at the cabin, Kurt was holed up in his room, still seething by what had happened with Victoria. After he returned to the room, he smelled his boxers and it wasn’t piss or even cum, so he surmised that it was water. And, of course, being water meant that someone had poured it over them during the night.

He didn’t even have to think hard enough to know who the culprit was though.

”I’ll get back at you, Heather!” He promised to himself. ”I’ll do anything to make you pay for that!”

A few minutes later, the remaining three girls were on the deck cleaning the grill, since it had quite a few layers of dust over it from being kept inside the storage room for some time now. Brandon and Gavin had gone to look for worms around the lake.

“So,” Heather said as she passed the wet rag she was holding over the grill. “Vicky apologized to me this morning.”

“Cool,” Ashley beamed. “I’m glad that she’s coming to her senses regarding your cousin.”

“Yeah, but I wonder what her reaction would be if she knew that you and Zack had a hand on it,” Chloe grinned. “And I still can’t believe I missed it.”

“Well,” Ashley said with a smile. “Next time don’t spend the whole night playing with Gavin.”

Heather laughed. “Playing with Gavin, you make it sound dirty, Ash,” Then she looked at Chloe with one raised eyebrow. “Unless you really did spent the night thoroughly playing with Gavin, Chloe dear.”

“What?” Chloe stammered. “Hell no! Gavin’s a good old friend.”

“Sometimes it starts that way.” Heather winked at the redhead.

“Okay, let’s stop embarrassing Chloe for now,” Ashley piped in. “Let’s talk about Vicky and Zack all alone in a car for the morning. I can’t believe we didn’t even have to push them together.”

“Push them together?” Chloe asked, puzzled.

Heather opened her mouth but before she could say something, Ashley beat her to it. “We were talking yesterday about how Vicky always dated jerks and it was getting tiresome to watch her do it.” The blonde explained. “Then we figured that we could make her and Zack get closer during the trip, but we wanted to ask you first if there was something between you and him.”

Chloe shook her head. “Definitely no, Zack’s more like a brother to me than my little sister sometimes.” Then she got a thoughtful expression on her face. “There’s one thing that I guess I should tell you, though.”

“What?” Ashley asked.

Chloe thought for a couple of seconds more, but she guessed that now it had no harm in telling them. “Okay, Zack had a major crush on Victoria up until last night when she pulled that stunt to get into Kurt’s room.”

While Chloe and Ashley excitedly discussed the implications of that information, Heather once again was reminded of the fun night she had with Zack pranking Kurt, the chemistry that they seemed to have and if she really was upset that something could happen between them while they were in Zack’s car. The cheerleader captain was definitely having a difficult time in making sense about the thoughts in her head.

’That’s it,” She said inside her head. ”They’re both my friends, I should be happy for them if something happens.”

She never liked getting attached, so she didn’t see any reason why she would start now.
