Chapter 16 by Duskford Duskford

What happens next?

Victoria wants to switch rooms with Chloe

After the argument between Heather and Victoria, Chloe remained rooted to her spot on the couch watching the TV with Ashley. Both girls decided to not talk about it, since it wouldn’t solve the problem. A few minutes later Chloe felt a little urgency in her bladder. “I’m gonna go to the bathroom, be right back.” she stood up and jogged over to the right hallway.

Ashley smiled and nodded as the redhead went to the guest bathroom, which was located between Ashley’s and Victoria’s bedrooms. As she passed between the rooms, though, she heard a small voice calling her.

“Chloe!”

The redhead looked around and saw there was a small gap on Gavin and Victoria’s door and the blonde girl was looking expectantly at her from the other side.

“Victoria?”

Victoria waved to her, motioning for her to come into the room. Raising a curious eyebrow, Chloe followed her friend into the room. Once inside she looked around, the room was identical to the one she was sharing with Kurt. Of course, Gavin’s stuff was piled up on a corner of the table while Victoria’s things were neatly organized. Chloe then shifted her glance to Vicky and saw that her eyes were very red, meaning that she probably cried after her confrontation with Heather. “Vicky, are you okay?” she asked in a concerned tone, placing a hand on the other girl’s shoulder.

Victoria sniffed and then nodded. “I’m better now,” she replied. “It’s just that I’m getting really fed up with Heather and Ashley thinking they have the right to tell me what I should or shouldn’t do, you know?”

Chloe smiled sympathetically. “Vicky, they’re just looking out for you and don’t want you to get hurt,” she tried to reassure her blonde friend. “Surely you know that.”

“I know,” Victoria nodded again. “But that doesn’t mean they should try to stop me from doing things I want, it should be my choice if I want to be near Kurt or not. This is why I called you here.”

Chloe stared at Victoria with a curious expression, her brow furrowing. “What do you mean?”

“I want you to switch rooms with me,” Victoria answered with a serious look.

The blue-eyed redhead was taken aback by the request. A lot of things raced through her mind, such as the relief she would feel by getting rid of Kurt and concern for Victoria for sharing a room with the creepy older guy. Not to mention, Zack would be crushed by this.

“Well?” Victoria prompted her, expectantly. “What do you say?”

Thinking it through, Chloe reached the conclusion she couldn’t deny Victoria what she was asking of her. Not without revealing Zack’s crush to her blonde friend and she was really sure her best friend would want to say that to Victoria by himself. She looked dejectedly to the floor before opening her mouth to answer. “Sure, I guess.”

Victoria then threw her arms around Chloe in a tight hug. “Oh, thanks!” she gushed. “You’re truly a great friend, Chloe.”

When they separated, Chloe directed a look of worry towards her friend. “If you don’t mind me asking, Vicky,” she frowned. “Why are you doing this? I mean, besides the need to prove yourself to Heather and Ashley?”

Victoria smiled. “I really think that Kurt is a nice guy and Heather's being silly,” she answered. “I want to keep a closer eye on him.”

Chloe frowned again, she had no way of telling Victoria about Kurt's creepiness without sounding like Heather. “You’re not planning on…,”

“Gods, no!” Victoria interrupted her, laughing. “I’m not going to give my first time to someone I've known only for a day.”

Chloe nodded in relief before an awkward silence came between them. The redhead would go through with what she just promised, she just hoped Zack wouldn’t hold it against her.

“Let’s switch our stuff now, before the guys get back from the lake,” Victoria pleaded, jumping to her feet.

“Okay, I’m just gonna stop by the bathroom first,” Chloe agreed, standing up as well. When she returned, they began to take Victoria’s things to Kurt’s room. As they passed by the living room Chloe got an inquisitive look from Ashley, which she answered with a shrug of her shoulders. After a few minutes the opposite task was also done, Chloe’s stuff soon was in Gavin’s room. As she started the second unpacking of her day, the only thing in Chloe’s mind was how she would tell Zack about what just happened. I hope he forgives me.

Does Chloe tell Zack right away? Are the others doing something interesting?
