Chapter 73

An extremely hard choice to make...
... Yet you made it.
Even though everyone heard your answer, you decide to say it once more.
"I rather leave my old life behind, if going back at it means regretting my choice until the end of my life, then I can't take it."
After saying this, you walk closer to the orb, before grabbing it, showing it to Zeromus as another confirmation of your answer.
"So your choice was made, Adam..." Zeromus started to say, before adding. "You will also regret this choice, as a day will come where everything will become clear to you. Until then, the gift in this orb will prove to be your biggest help."
Right when he finished speaking, you saw a crack appear on the orb, mere instants before it shattered loudly in your hand, several streams of energy slithering out of it, circling around you before entering your body. The feeling of the energy being consumed by your body was almost overwhelming, as it came from everywhere at once in your being, before gradually disappearing.
"You received it better than I thought. Maybe you will be of use in later events." Zeromus said, his tone too mysterious to your liking. "What I gave you is an experimental spell. It is called "Chaotic Purification", and I don't recommend you to use it for now, it would most likely be lethal for you."
You only nodded, as both you and Zeromus watched the blue portal starting to get smaller, slowly cutting the connexion between your native world and Eovotis, giving you one last sight of your world, before disappearing. This was it, you knew you wouldn't be able to get back to your home world anymore, and what did you get for it ? A spell that would kill you if you used it now.
Oddly enough, and for the first time in a while, you felt calm while thinking about what your choice meant for your future. There may not be a way to go back there anymore, you may still want to have your memories back, and the looming shadow of the God of Balance was starting to weight heavily on your mind, yet you couldn't feel any fear or anxiety.
"Knowing the truth seems to have helped you, Adam." Said Atsura. "Now, do you understand why neither Permafrost nor I killed you and the two Ladies there when we could ?"
When Atsura said that, you thought you would get angry, but no, not this time. Knowing the truth indeed helped you understand a lot more of Atsura's actions, of the Chaos Legion's intent, and of why Atsura and Shirayuki gave you such generous rewards when you first saved him.
"I think I see why indeed, Atsura." You answered, your voice cold, yet less cold than you anticipated. "Your Legion threatened Noldrin in order to hide something..."
"This something being your existence indeed." Completed Atsura. "We aimed to hide you from the God of Balance's sight, but he somehow managed to find out about you, which means we failed our mission. Sorry Zeromus, that was my fault."
You noticed how casually Atsura spoke to Zeromus, which did surprise you quite a bit. Why would he speak to a god as if he was a simple friend ? Zeromus' answer won't help you understand why though.
"Don't worry, Atsura. This mission of yours was bound to fail before I even gave it to you. Going to extremes such as using a big part of the Legion was all for nothing, I suppose."
Seeing the two of them chat so casually was very odd to you, who thought that Atsura would have to address Zeromus with respect, since the latter is a god and the former is under his orders...
Shirayuki noticed you confused look, and shook lightly her head, not saying a word, yet letting you understand that this was an usual thing for them. Since you felt quite bold now, you said to Zeromus.
"Now that that's done, can we have some peace to figure all of this out ?"
Acting like that is not recommended

Coming To An Unknown World
Or how to NOT behave after waking up in another world
After waking up with an hazy mind in the middle of what doesn't seem like home, but you're not sure since you don't remember anything about what's your home, you start a quest to try and go back from where you came, potentially changing your mind and/or saving this world in the meantime... But hey, at least you can encounter girls and create an harem while doing this, so you won't have to only fight for your life and to understand why you appeared here in the first place.
