“Yer not signing any contracts!”

It wasn’t me that spoke that line.

“Well, that’s a bummer”, Femto made an annoyed grimace. “I was hoping the little urchin wouldn’t figure it out.”

It was Fisti who gave the order.

Right, I ordered Sylphid to obey all the girls in this tower.

With a sigh Sylphid let me go.

“I forbid you from signing any contract!”, I immediately commanded Sylphid. Probably redundant but I’m not taking any chances here.

“Come on, you guys”, Sylphid groaned. “You know this is the best option. Just let me...”

Fisti had rushed forward and slapped her.

It took all of us by surprise. Even Sylphid, for once, seemed genuinely taken aback by this.

“Are ya out of yer mind!”, Fisti screamed. “Ya just about threw yer life away!”

The martial artist was shaking like a leaf and close to crying. “Don't do this! There are people that care about ya! Ya...ya...bloody eejit!”

“Foolish human, why are you interfering?” Hebi-san hissed. “That impudent girl is a sacrifice we are willing to make! Allow it right, now, foolish Mari Beta!”

That caused Fisti to whirl around with a vengeance. “I turn ya into a sacrifice if yer not shutting up!”

“Lady’s, here’s an absolutely crazy idea”, Cassandra added to the pot. “How about we run the fuck away so nobody gets sacrificed? You know, the fucking smart decision!”

“That would be an acceptable alternative”, Hebi-san nodded. “Very well, Mari Beta. You may decide between one or the other.”

“See, Sir?”, Femto sighed loudly. “This is why we are a proud anti union shop. Can’t get even a simple contract made without the riff raff raising a stink about it.”

“Shut yer trap, ya mangy devil!” Fist shouted. “Yer not getting any souls! I agree with the daft slaver, this plan is complete hogwash!”

“It is a pretty dumb plan”, Sylphid added to the ever growing resentment. “Sorry, Handsome. But it’s my way or the highway.”

Even Aiju nodded. “Mari dumb.”

I thought with Beatrice asleep and Sylphid’s insurrection thwarted the worst was over, but no, if anything it only riled the girls up even more. I was expecting some pretty strong opposition but Sylphid at least will have to sign the contract out of her own volition.
