Chapter 142

What do I tell Amelia?
I have a girlfriend now
I take a deep breath and say, “When it comes to breasts, I am just like any other guy. And breasts like yours, yeah, they are certainly worth a look. But I am also in a relationship now and I would feel bad dishonoring Kiara by focusing on other women’s breasts.”
Amelia is silent for a bit, then gives me a gentle smile. “I don’t like it when guys stare at my chest. It always feels like they have lewd thoughts in their mind when they do so. But you are not like that, Darx. So, if you were to do it. I would be alright with it.” Then she leans in close and gives me a kiss on the cheek.
“So, did you learn enough from the book to cast some ice magic now?” Amelia asks.
My only response is, “I guess we can try.”
I use my magic ring to summon some water and make sure it floats in a circle between my hands. Next comes the hard part. I am not supposed to take water and **** air magic onto it to freeze it. That won’t work. I need to first combine the two magic elements inside me, then place it onto the water. So, I do that, and the circular moving water between my hands freezes solid. Once frozen, the solid circle falls onto my hand.
“Oooh, it’s cold.” I say and quickly place it on the seat in front of us.
“Look at that, you froze it.” Amelia says joyfully.
“Yeah, but being able to cast ice magic apparently doesn’t make me immune to the cold.”
“Oh.” Amelia says with a disappointing tone. “I was hoping that maybe you could make a sword out of ice. That way, you could have a replacement until your sword gets repaired.”
Amelia makes an interesting point there. Imagine I could summon ice swords from out of nowhere. That would be incredibly useful. Maybe there is a spell in the book that is better equipped for it.
Amelia and I flip through the pages and eventually come at a page which says [Shape Ice]. The spell described there is meant to have the caster adjust the shape of already existing ice. The description also says that if you want to freeze water into a specific shape, it is less mana intensive to first have the water be in the shape of the object, freeze it and then make minor adjustment with the [Shape Ice] spell.
I summon water from my ring again and have the water take on the shape of a sword. Then I make the water freeze into ice and grab it. It feels cold to the touch, but I can handle it if I switch it between my hands. Amelia is happy that it worked, but I am more critical. The edges are blunt, not sharp, and there are irregularities all over the ice sword. This is when I use the [Shape Ice] spell and smoothen out the blade. It helps me to get an edge on the sword, but I can’t finish it as the hand I am holding the sword with starts to go numb from the cold. I place the ice sword on the seat in front of us and start rubbing my hands together for warmth.
“It’s not going to work.” I say. “I won’t be able to hold it for long enough to make it into a proper sword.”
“Unless … you are wearing something cold resistant? Like a glove.” Amelia tells me.
Note to self, when I pick up my repaired sword from the crafter’s guild, I will need to buy some gloves with cold resistance while I’m there.
Amelia and I continue reading the book on ice magic and exchange ideas, until the carriage stops.
“We’ve arrived!” Kiara yells at us.
I close the book and leave it in the carriage. Then Amelia and I get out. Time to see what this mansion looks like.
